It's not exactly at the most convenient time, but I'm thinking about traveling to go to the game...
Gaard Burns et al seem to think the downtown Detroit is actually an entertaining place.
Checked Sun Country last night. In and out on that day was about $250, which isn't bad, especially since there would be no luggage of any kind. The Creative Charters deal isn't bad considering they handle ground transport. Tickets to the game are like $2 each for end zone GA.The flight prices were crazy from MSP to Detroit. Think the tickets through the U were high as well. Creative Charters actually had a decent one day package but more than what I want to pay. Already did North Carolina, Purdue and getting 2024 season ticket renewal emails is just a lot for a 5-7 season.
Oh they must have really dropped in the last few weeks. Pretty good deal!Checked Sun Country last night. Yes, secondary market. I'd never pay U prices.Oh they must have really dropped in the last few weeks. Pretty good deal!
The $2 seats are through the secondary market? The ones I saw through the U were like $95.
The Mouse needs programming and it wouldn't change the attendance more than a few thousand.I'd like to go but hard to pull it off on the afternoon of 12/26.
Wish some of these less desirable bowls would move them up to the weekend before Christmas vs. the day after the holiday.
You are spot on. After I typed it I thought to myself "Who am I kidding? I am probably busier the weekend before Christmas."The Mouse needs programming and it wouldn't change the attendance more than a few thousand.
No kidding. Not trying to be an A-hole, rather encouraging.“Hey dad, remember that time we decided on short notice to take a day trip to Detroit to watch the gophers play? That was fun.” - disco jr.
Do it.
Detroit is almost more desirable just because at least for the game itself, weather isn't a factor. There's lots of bowl games I would go to, but Detroit and New York are not in that group. No interest. Granted interest is weighed down by a crappy season too.
Plus that would compete with the NFL. Weekday/night games the week between Christmas and New Years compete against virtually nothing. The Mouse needs programming and it wouldn't change the attendance more than a few thousand.
It is a shame that the bowls elect to screw over the schools by forcing them to sell way overpriced tickets when they are easily found way cheaper on the secondary market.Yes, secondary market. I'd never pay U prices.
El Paso??Any question about a Bowl Game in Detroit, Atlanta, Florida, California, New York, New Orleans, El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix, Houston, Albuquerque, Birmingham, Boston or Memphis should always be posted first on the Off-Topic Board.
El Paso??
Oh wait, I did see Sicario. Good flick. Very relevant for random tourists!
To be honest, they should be get instant membership in Gopher Hall of Fame.Anybody who goes to Detroit to watch 5-7 Minnesota play Bowling Green the day after Christmas deserves 400,000 Gopher points, or whatever they call them these days.
Honestly, I wish the B1G would contract again with the Sun Bowl. I've always wanted to go to that stadium.
And El Paso is one of the safest large cities in the US, despite what some would say.
Some of us remember repeated trips to the Sun Bowl. Don't miss it that much. Although for some reason I always seem to be doing family stuff this time of year...Honestly, I wish the B1G would contract again with the Sun Bowl. I've always wanted to go to that stadium.

I am not this year but made the trip last time it was in Detroit and had a really fun timeIt's not exactly at the most convenient time, but I'm thinking about traveling to go to the game...
Was much more fun when we got an ACC opponentI'd be bringing my kid, so no bar-hopping. I've still never been to a bowl game and this is an easy/cheap one. But at the same time, it's a 5-7 team playing Bowling Green, which is just SO uninspiring.
