Is 18-point spread against Buffalo too much? BMTS video

I think if the gophers play well they’ll destroy that spread.

But I would not be surprised with a 28 to 17 victory

Feels like one that’s close at halftime and depends how much the lines can wear them down in the 2nd half in terms of the spread

I feel less confident than most about our ability to score a bunch of points. Buffalo returns 9 starters on D and we have an almost entirely new offense, including a FR quarterback and wholly revamped o-line. That combined with our notorious slow starts under Fleck has me doubting we score more than 20-24 points. I think we’ll win, but it’ll be ugly and closer than we’d like.

I’d heard somewhere Buffalo is a good MAC team and the talent has trickled down somewhat to the heathen poor conferences moreso than anytime in the past so yeah, it seems pretty high. Then again I have no idea how good MN or Buffalo will be this year and neither does anyone else - except maybe PJF. Rumors of an inexperienced offensive line and QB, etc.

I hope they blow the doors off them but c’mon, we’re Gopher fans.

I was looking at their roster and maybe of interest only to me but their QB is Ta’Quan Roberson. The last time I saw Ta’Quan Roberson play was for The Nittany Lions at Kinnick in 2021 and he put on maybe the single most disastrous QB performance I’ve ever seen in relief of injured Gophers-lover Sean Clifford. Hilarious interceptions, 27.88 rating, 1.6 ypa. Hounded all game, running backwards. He never played for PSU again.

I’m sure he’s improved, probably dramatically but I hope the defense gives him a warm welcome.

Maybe the 4th school is a charm. https://ubbulls.com/sports/football/roster/taquan-roberson/8446

18 seems too many points. Good Buffalo team with 9 defensive starters back. A running QB and one of the top RB's of the MAC level tier.

18 might be....if Buffalo puts up a fight Fleck is perfectly content to win non-conf games by smaller yet still very safe margins.

I don't gamble on sports so as long as we have at least one more point then them when the final whistle blows I'm good.... :)

I think 18 is a lot for the 1st game of the season. A lot of new players and of course QB first career start too. They very well might blow out Buffalo but I would not bet on 18 points in the season opener.

I think the Gophers win, but I’m taking Buffalo and the points. New QB, almost new OL, PJ wanting to run the ball more, an experienced opponent.

Exactly. I think there's too many moving parts that are new to be certain what the spread will be. I think if this was their 3rd game I would take the 18 points.

I’m very interested to see how he does versus a big ten defense, even if reloading. Perusing his stats just now it’s not like he lit it up at any of his prior stops. If MN sports tradition holds true he’ll probably have a career day j/k
I hear you.
