FFS coaches have been doing this for a long time. So yeah. I guess they’re exactly the same. They both tweet about their players. The both coach football.

And their 3-3 records are exactly the same, as you pointed out. Except they are not. I know facts are hard when love is blind.

Doesn’t mean we won’t get there in year 4, or is it 5? Doesn’t mean we can’t get there sooner, but that doesn’t fit Fleck’s script, so we aren’t going to do that. I’m thrilled we finally tried against a ranked opponent. So that’s progress right?

I don't know nearly enough to make any kind of more definitive judgements on their similarity, but I will also throw out one more piece that puts them as more similar than more different.

And that is, I seem to recall a quote/statement out of the Iowa camp that was very snarky but was basically showing some kind of frustration towards "the guys in Ames and Minneapolis", in regards to how many early offers they were giving out, and how essentially they don't do that in Iowa City.

Anyone else remember that? Maybe Ferentz's son the OC (if he still is)?

GWG, are you using these two tweets and the articles to show that Campbell is similar to Fleck?
Because these things show how they are not alike. Where's Campbell's slogan(s) Where are all the things on the uniforms/helmets not related to the university but to his brand?
Where in either tweet is his slogan taking up space over the university?
Every program in the country puts out info like Campbell has here.
The new buzz word is changing the culture, and like Al Gore and the internet, it was not invented by PJ

When did I ever say PJ invented changing the culture? Most new coaches use that slogan across many different sports. Even businesses use it. That's exactly my point. This was the quote I responded to:

Campbell is every bit the 'chief culture officer' that Fleck is. They talk about building the culture in similar ways. Many on here complain about Fleck routinely talking about needing to change the culture, while pretending that a culture of 50 years of losing doesn't need to be changed. Campbell does the same thing, which is much needed both here and there.

Iowa St hasn't had a lot of uniform changes over the years, far less than Minnesota, yet they rolled out three completely new combinations just for this year. Are they done slightly differently than Flecks without RTB or a 'personal slogan'? It appears so, for now. But it was mentioned in the article about how these uniforms relate to the Campbell era and culture, which is very similar to the uniform changes here under Fleck, and under Kill.

Do I like the paddle on the helmet? Not really. But it can still have every bit of a loose correlation to Ski-U-Mah, as brick by brick did, which is used by other schools and other coaches. The uniforms relate to the culture of what ever coach is coaching at the time, at many schools across the country, even at helmet schools. Whatever they want to do to doesn't affect me being a fan whatsoever. Regardless of uniforms, culture, etc, Fleck is doing similar things to Campbell and many other coaches around the country.

edit....curious, so I looked at records: Campbell 49-32 and Fleck 38-32...not relevant to anything just wondered.

That is a significant difference worth noting. Campbell lives and breaths offensive X's and O's. In fact, he didn't hire/name an offensive coordinator at Iowa St this season .... because he's doing it himself! So it makes sense that he was previous an OC.

Fleck on the other hand, has never been a coordinator ... though he clearly understands the game quite intimately, having been a high level player. He delegates the play calling to his coordinators.
 

They share the same birthday a year apart....they are similar.
