Not surprised. Fan apathy has set in with the Iowa fan base, because they want their coach to be fired/retire. Sound familiar?

Fran has a winning conference record over 15 seasons at Iowa and has won 2 conference tournaments while playing a really fun style of basketball. The one (significant) blemish is that he's not made a Sweet 16.

Reading their premium board is informative. Their mods think Fran is gone for sure. The two most prominent names being brought up to replace him are DeVries and McCollum, but in their most recent update the mod seems to be less optimistic on DeVries returning to Iowa than he has been previously. A new name was added today: Niko Medved. Without taking all the info in the update, I found it interesting that the reaction to Niko was uniformly negative from their posters. I think that has a large part to do with them being more familiar with the guys with Iowa ties but the reaction was notable.

A new name was added today: Niko Medved. Without taking all the info in the update, I found it interesting that the reaction to Niko was uniformly negative from their posters. I think that has a large part to do with them being more familiar with the guys with Iowa ties but the reaction was notable.

I suspect the reason is that they don't see Medved as an upgrade. Unlike our program, they haven't had 5 losing seasons in the last 6 years so their perspectives are a bit different.
