One of the new Iowa players charged with gambling, etc. is Arland Bruce IV, who has now transferred (Kansas?). Sorry to see that.

Yeah, back in our day there were no issues with college players gambling. It's only within the last couple years this has ever happened. Definately related to conference realignment.

Since when has there EVER been integrity in college football?
 



Starting rb Jihrel Brock on the report for ISU, unfortunately looks like ISU is getting hit harder than Iowa.

Is it your contention that these problems didn't exist prior to the generation that was born in the 90s? If so...I have a bridge to sell you cheap!

The headline is deceptive. Ferentz throws out a number of disclaimers around whether or not players will be suspended if he finds out the had gambled on Iowa games.

Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz told reporters Friday he is still gathering information and learning about the involvement of his players in the gambling investigations currently ongoing by the NCAA and the state of Iowa.

Not sure maybe this has been reported. But according to Coach Ferentz Iowa is the only state in the 48(excluding Alaska) that is investigating player gambling. If so, sad for those players being penalized - up to life time band. It has to be prevalent in other states.
 






In what year do we think player gambling will become a compliance expectation for athletic departments and coaches? Clearly no one thinks it should be now, our most bitter rival (it's a tie) is in the crosshairs and no one is suggesting sanctions for the program or coach.

Do you think it should be now? If it was a compliance expectation would the program need access to players phones to ensure no betting was occurring? It seems neigh unenforceable

I don't think it should be now - far too much deregulation/legalization is happening too quickly - but I assume the NCAA will need to adopt a standard that schools will be expected to follow. As for enforcement, this wouldn't be the first time the NCAA has created a rule that would be applied unevenly. I'm genuinely curious if people think if/when it will happen.

It is a compliance expectation and has been for some time.
