Iowa Football receives death penalty

Saw they hired Beth Goetz yesterday. She might be in line to take over for Barta when he is done. She took over for Teague while Kill/Claeys were here.
 

An observation from Des Moines area. This week there is usually a lot of back and forth talk/mirth/downright rivalry among the Iowa and ISU grads and respective fans. At least in our workgroup (9 ISU grads, 7 IA, 4 "other") the Hawk fan contingent has been very very quiet. The SDSU game really did that for the Hawks; no one is terribly confident about their offense right now. Gives me some confidence that we can bear the Hawks thsi year, maybe by like 21-6 or soemthing. Obviosuly, we've got to do it. But their offense does not look very healthy, at least right now.....

Will be interesting to see what happens when they get a few guys back healthy but I doubt it will make a massive difference as their offense sucked last year too. It might not suck quite a bad as it did against SDSU but it is probably going to be a rough year for them on that side of the ball.

Jones is probably thrilled he jumped ship for Purdue after seeing what the Iowa offense did last week. He had more targets in the game then Iowa had total completions.
 


I think that game was as much "fun" for Iowa fans as our own game against South Dakota State in 2009 was for us. A win, but ugh...
 

that would suck if Iowa got the death penalty, at least this year. It might be fun watching that offense struggle to crack about 10 pts a game!

Oh my. Tough to slog your way through that video. I wish Iowa could have waited to display that offensive performance against the Gophers. They can't/won't be that bad again. Iowa D looked good and the Iowa punter was likely named MVP.

Would have been very interesting to see how that game would have turned out if SDSU had connected on that deep shot. WR was running free, the QB just overshot him.

Having two NFL caliber receivers and a competent QB was the difference.
