Meanwhile:
- Aaron Blom, Iowa football: Blom is accused of placing 170 wagers while he was underage, totaling more than $4,400. Eight of those bets were on Iowa sporting events. One alleged bet was the "under" on total points in the 2021 Iowa vs. Iowa State Cy-Hawk game. Blom did not participate in that game.
- Arland Bruce IV, former Iowa football: Bruce is accused of placing approximately 132 bets while underage, including 19 on Iowa football games. He is accused of betting the "under" total points in two 2022 games, including Iowa vs. Northwestern on Oct. 29 in which Bruce recorded a pair of receptions for 19 yards. He did not participate in the Hawkeyes' game vs. Kentucky in which he is accused of betting the "under" total points. Bruce transferred to Oklahoma State.
- Harry "Reggie" Bracy, former Iowa football: Bracy is accused of placing 66 bets totaling $715 while under the age of 21. He is accused of placing eight wagers on Iowa sporting events, including two football games in which he played: Sept. 3, 2022 vs. South Dakota State, and Oct. 1, 2022 vs Michigan. Bracy transferred to Troy.
- Jack Johnson, Iowa football: Johnson is accused of placing 380 bets totaling over $1,800 before turning 21. At least 11 wagers were placed on Iowa basketball events and four on Iowa football events, according to the complaint. Johnson is listed as a member of the Iowa football team as of Friday, Aug. 11.
- Owen O'Brien, Iowa football (student manager): O'Brien, a student manager with the Iowa football program, is accused of placing over 350 bets totaling over $3,047 while he was under the age of 21. He is accused of placing 11 wagers on Iowa sporting events, including three on Iowa football events during the 2022 season while he was a staff member.
I'm a little surprised gambling organizations are allowed to participate. NIL has prohibited NIL type deals but apparently not gambling ...
