Iowa crowd

Anyone in sec 143 see the Iowa dude standing up and clapping all the time, he was getting real cocky in the 4th but needless to say by the end or close to the end of the game he wasn't standing or clapping anymore.

In our section we had one iowa fan try to choke a Gopher fan. I was hoping security would just blow him away but they just moved the thin skinned _rick out of our section.

He was buddies with the Gopher fans who sit next to me. The Iowa guy was pretty funny and was mainly reacting to the guys next to me heckling him.

Without a doubt, the NDSU fans have been the most obnoxious, drunk, and least knowledgeable of the visiting fans so far this year.

YES!

My favorite fans were the New Mexico and Miami fans.

We had no problems with the Iowa fans sitting around us...very nice, knowledgeable fans. There was an Iowa fan a number of rows below us in 211 that had security and the cops come talk to him a few times.

Nice to see that the numbers of Iowa fans dwindled from last year. I definitely don't have the anxiety with visiting fans that I used to at the Dome. Wisconsin/Iowa/NDSU/Michigan fans could make those games feel an awful lot like an away game. For as much as people talk and talk and talk about the visiting fans and them invading TCF - it really hasn't been an issue. Nebraska brought a lot, but they weren't real loud. Wisconsin will bring a lot in a few weeks, and having their band there will be annoying, but it will be night and day compared to the Dome.

Honestly, I have been on board the "we should serve beer to everyone" bandwagon at TCF. But the best excuse NOT to, is the change in behavior of the Iowa fans. At the dome, I once scolded a 40 year old Iowa couple to stop the F-bombs, and their excuse was "they serve beer here, would you take your child to a bar?". Well, I live in St. Paul, and yes, I do. The mere presence of beer doesn't mean you have to be a drunk. A lot of Hawkeye fans seem to not understand that.

Do you sit in section 133? The Iowa fan was right next to me and lasted about 7 minutes into the game before going after a Gopher fan (who was egging him on).

As the game ended, we were doing the "35 south" chant to leaving Iowa fans, and it was just too much for one, as he tried to pick a fight with a Gopher fan sitting next to the aisle.

Otherwise, we had a bunch of Iowa fans around us, and were actually well behaved.

Wisky is not bringing their band, as per the UofM Athletics twitter account.

I think the U is sitting on the empty student seats and that is where most of the missing seats are coming from.

You're probably right - I forgot about that. There were a pile of tickets on StubHub not going for a lot of money (~$80 ea), but that would entail them using the internet.:p

Not that this answers the question, but it's worth relating. As I was running around the field with the pig and the brother in law after the game ended, my wife was in the front of the stands waiting for us. She encountered an Iowa fan complaining to the usher about the "tasteless" 'who hates Iowa' chant and how they shouldn't allow that. The usher was like, how am I supposed to regulate chanting, or something like that.

Really? I thought they were all set to come.

They were planning on it. But something came up and Nebraska's band was to be the last guest band we were hosting this year.

Perhaps the Badger band directors ran out of breathalyzers and condoms for the group?

Interesting. U of M decision?

UPDATE: Badgers @ Minnesota: Due to a last-minute change beyond our control, the UW Marching Band will not be traveling to Minneapolis for the Wisconsin/Minnesota game on Saturday, November 12. We apologize and thank you for your support.

Where's that from?

I thought the freakout from some over it was silly, but I certainly don't mind them not bringing their band with them.

Don't need them - our band rocks!

Visiting band, especially full sized, not pep sized bands that do a pregame show are a big part of what make CFB great. The OSU band visit last year was the best.

I was hoping to see the Iowa or UW bands at TCF but that has not happened. A MSU, Purdue, or PSU band visit would have been equal or better to the OSU visit. I hope the Michigan Band comes here someday, as our band went to Michigan in '86 and it was great.

Despite all of this, if it is indeed true that Wisconsin makes it very hard for visiting bands to ever visit Camp Randall Stadium by charging or making the U of M pay 50 or 60 dollars x 350 members to visit and then cut those 350 seats out of the visiting fan allotment, then the UW band should never set foot in TCF Bank Stadium.
[Can someone confirm that the UW visiting band policy is different than the terms they get when they visit TCF or came to the Metrodome in the past? If UW claims there is no room at CR, then they should remove the tarps off of the low level, unused seats and put the band there.

SEC football is the best, and there is a small or full visiting band at almost every road game.
