Iowa City Roll Call

Will be making my 2nd trip to Kinnick with a group of 4. Heading down Friday afternoon and staying w/ the in-laws who are Hawkeye season ticket holders. However, for the first time ever my wife will sporting some Maroon and Gold at the Battle for Floyd (which is not going over very good in their house). Looking forward to meeting up with Gopherlovin and the group to resume the annual Gopher/Hawkeye bag toss battle Saturday morning prior to bringng Floyd back home.

Really hoping that I don't make the rookie mistake again of trying to use the Men's restroom at halftime. Pretty sure I missed the majority of the 3rd quarter last time.

Staying at in-laws in Waterloo Friday night. Any ideas on an easy way to park and walk/ride to the stadium? Right now, I'm thinking of taking the Hawkeye Express but $12 ea. seems a little high.

I'm going, for the first time. I'm driving down myself to meet up with my nephew. He is a trash talking Iowa student. I'm planning to make the drive down and back all on Saturday. I'm assuming about a 5 hour drive from the Twin Cities? Does that sound right?

If you leave the Twin Cities at 5 AM you'll still be sitting on the freeway at kickoff. The times I've gone to Iowa City Saturday morning we've always left between midnight and 1 AM to start tailgating promptly at 0700. The campus at Iowa is awful at getting people into and out of there. I wouldn't wait much later than 3 AM to leave.

We (two Gopher fans, one Hawkeye fan, and one Badger fan) are leaving Friday night and staying near Cedar Rapids. We picked up tickets last night via stub hub in section 101 (row 10). This will be my first Gopher road game and I am really looking forward to it.Hope to see some smiling Gopher fan faces on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

My dad and I are planning on leaving at 5:00 a.m. from Cannon Falls. Google Maps claims it is 4 hours and 39 minutes to Iowa City. That would put us there around 9:30... giving us an hour of clearance... I'm getting nervous, might bump it up to 4:30-4:45.

I know you're going down 52, but from the southern suburbs starting on 35 it takes between 4:10-4:30

We are heading down Friday morning. Staying 2 nights at the fabulous Fairfield Inn! Can't wait! Go Gophers!

We will be driving into waterloo on friday night. Driving into Kinnick on Saturday morning. I'm almost thinking that it might be better to stay off the highway and take 380 till Cedar Rapids and then jump on IA-905 all the way to Iowa city. Is that a better idea than sitting in traffic on 380/80 for an extended period of time?

I am gonna stay home, watch the game, have my own tailgate, tons of gin and tonics after a half ton of bloody mary's, grill my steak and fresh sweet corn, get drunk, pass out, and hopefully win some Vegas money.

That's the same thing I've got going...Life is good!!

Great minds think alike. Now, if we could only meet at station19's place in Alexandria, freshtrout would join us and a good time could be had by all.

My fiance and I are planning to make the short drive up Saturday morning. Still looking for tickets though if anyone has two extras.

send me a private message with your contact info GophersInIowa if you havent found tickets yet. Ill help you out.

Depends on what time you're leaving Waterloo. If it's before 7:00 you should be okay on 380.

The only trouble with going down 52 is that you have to limp along on 63 between Stewartville and Waterloo with every two-bit county mountie in north-central Iowa trying to earn his keep with the radar gun. I wouldn't be on the road any later than 3:30.

I'm coming from Waterloo on Saturday morning. I was planning on leaving at 8am. Google says it's about an hour and a half from Waterloo to Kinnick. Should I budget more time for traffic or is 3 hours plenty of time to get down there and find parking and get in to the stadium?

If we leave the Rochester area by 5, will that be enough time to be at the stadium by a half hour to an hour before gametime?

see you down there, I have a group of NDSU fans hitting the gopher game, then heading back to NDSU/UNI game in cedar falls. should be a great day to beat both of iowa teams, lots of ndsu fans will be cheering for you, if anyone wants to hit beck's in cedar falls at 11am, thats where the ndsu fans are having a gophers watch party as well.

8 of us ready to roll down. Anyone driving in from Des Moines on Saturday morning, how much time are you allowing? We want to get there early enough to tailgate, 4 adults and 4 kids, thought about hitting the bars and restraunts downtown I City but the weather looks so good we are thinking of tailgating, working on parking situation, hoping to secure parking close to Kinnick before Saturday.

I pulled the trigger on a $200 room in Coralville for Saturday last night. After parking for free at the hotel ,I can walk to the PED Mall and to Kinnick, and hit up the Vine or Iowa Power? restaurant without driving at all, and for me that is worth the extra $100, plus I have zero interest in staying in CR, East Liberty, Williamsburg, or anywhere but Iowa City/Coralville.

I am still on the fence, as the reservation has an out before 11:59 PM Thursday, and I am not sure I can handle the pain of a loss in Iowa City like the two I painfully witnessed in 2003 and 2005, or for that matter seeing Floyd being reclaimed.

The comfort of couch is hard to resist, but my guess is I'll be on I-35 or US 52 heading south out of downtown St. Paul by 3:45AM Saturday, with a couple Bloody Marys soon to follow, along with a view of the Iowa City Ped Mall by 8AM.

Our renewed depth and energy on Defense combined with the wretchedness of Iowa on offense relative to those other years is giving me some hope for a win.

Hobie: Did the drive from Des Moines to IC 3 years ago, and we plan on doing it again. 4 of us are staying in Altoona (just E of Des Moines) near Prairie Meadow Casino on Friday Night. Jethro's and some blackjack will be a fine way to kick off the weekend! About 90 minutes to Kinnick from there. We plan on leaving about 6:30 so we can meet up with our Hawkeye Fan hosts to tailgate by 8:30.

Go Gophers!

Hmm. Anyone starting to get the feeling that this is lakesbison? How ya doin', Sam?

I've moved my departure up to tomorrow right after work, driving right from work. That should cut down on my fears of getting there on time considerably. I am going to stay with my nephew in Iowa City. Hopefully I don't get treated like "my man Blue" while I am staying at a college-kid house.

As long as they treat you only to the "oil wrestling with half-naked girls" part, and not the "dying/funeral" part, you should be golden.

I hope as many of you possible are making the trip. It might tough of some of our sensibilities but you get to see a game and this is probably our best chance to win there in a while. It Max is on this should be cake walk.
