Wow – what a year. It is clear that the excitement surrounding TCF Bank Stadium and the Gophers’ return to the NCAA basketball tournament has sparked an incredible amount of enthusiasm and fan interest, and GopherHole.com has experienced an incredible amount of growth as a result. Each month over the past four years we have beat year over year growth numbers (comparing each month to the same month a year prior) and our 2009 numbers are shattering where we were just a year ago. We are incredibly grateful for your continued interest in Gopher sports and for making the GopherHole.com community what it is.

From Nadine Babu’s exclusive interview with Kevin Cosgrove which was picked up and published on the front page of the Omaha-Daily Herald sports section to mentions on ESPN.com , FoxSports.com and NYTimes.com, it has been a very busy year. In addition, over the past year we have doubled the amount of articles we have written, and we’re grateful to our staff. We are also so excited to have just started our in-depth “TCF Bank Stadium – Changing Gopher Athletics Forever” series which will include at least 30 articles in 30 days getting Gopher fans ready for our brand new home and the upcoming season.

Obviously running GopherHole is a labor of love for the staff – we do it because we are passionate about the Gophers and because of the community that you all have helped build. We have remained independent so we can continue to bring you the content free of charge in hopes that our readers enjoy the content we produce as much as we enjoy the interviews we conduct.

Since we are an independent and free site, we rely on minimal remnant advertising and the generous donations that many of you have given us. These donations help keep the site running, pay for our server and bandwidth, technical support and the remaining amount is given to our writers as a small token of our appreciation. I first discovered the GopherHole in 1999 when it was known as the "tunnel". The past few years the number of my posts have significantly decreased, but my appreciation for the articles by the staff have significantly increased.

I especially appreciate the player interviews by Nadine and the "Where Are They Now" articles by Rob. One particular story that stands out didn't even have a direct tie to Gopher basketball. It was Nadine's interview with Len Elmore. I consider Mr. Elmore one of the most sophisticated color analysts in college hoops. I am extremely jealous of both Nadine and Rob for the interesting personalities they have the privilege to meet.

I realize the importance of expressing one's appreciation in word, but it is more important to express it in deed. Therefore I have no problem in making a donation to keep this site as viable as possible. I hope many of you fellow loyal "Holers" will join me as well.
