Has Duke's injury been discussed yet? Doogie allegedly had a source that was telling him to look for Duke to be involved a lot in the passing game just a day or two before the TCU game. If Duke does does have another season long injury, I think it's fair to wonder if he might just move on from football.

I've always been a fan of Plsek, I think he's an underrated loss for this team.

Wow that's horrible news. Hope they make a speedy recovery!

If Plsek can't go this year. He still has his RS year left, correct? Very unfortunate loss if true

Jeez, what a downer! Duke has been a star in camp two years in a row and may not play a snap...ever. Plsek is a big loss along a line already hurting. We're also not overflowing with depth at S, so losing Travis for a tough road game stinks. Thanks for ruining my night, lol! Seriously though, injuries like this are often the difference between a GREAT season, good one, and historic one. Maybe not for OSU or Bama, but for MN.

At safety Rogers, McGhee and Ayinde all played on D last week and we also have 2-3 true frosh that may play so there are bodies there at least.

Look at the bright side, we played TCU close without all of them except Travis and a very gimpy Lauer.

Ace Rogers looked really good. Still, losing a guy like Travis hurts because he's so versatile.

Really bad news on the TEs. They were options 1A and 1B entering the season. Time for someone to really step up.

A week or two ago I was bitching about how many TE's we have on the roster. Looks like we might need them. Go Gophers!

It might be too late in the season for this, is there anyone on the dline who would be considered to switch back to TE (Elmore maybe)?

Sucks about Duke, both last year and this year I was super stoked to see what he could do...the poor kid can't catch a break.
Same goes for Plsek, but if he can't go this year he'll be back next, not so sure we can say that for Duke.. In the mean time,
Lingen played great and could potentially be a star at 'TE U'.
Sounds like Travis might sit this one out but should be fine and back for the third game, Ace played great, good coverage and
a bullet to the ball with really good instincts, hit hard too.

They've got plenty of TE's as is (Lingen, Scarver, Wozniak, Beebe, Gibson, Witham), they'll be fine.

I noticed both #4(Ayinde) and #6(Ace) against TCU, so hopefully that's a good sign.

I thought Gibson was a guy that people were raving about? He doesn't seem to come up in conversation much any more.

Gibson is a possibility for Kill's teaser in his press conference this week when he mentioned he may play a couple different people on offense.

I really feel bad for Duke.... Recruited locally as an "athlete", which he certainly is.
Really thought this would be his year factoring in as a pass catching TE.
Hopefully the report is worst case scenario, and the knee "perks up".

Plenty of bodies but if Duke really is done for the year that is a blow as he was the guy everyone had pegged to help replace the offensive production Maxx provided last year. Given our offensive struggles with the forward pass having a good receiving TE is key to take some pressure off the QB.

Anyone know if Duke's issue is a new injury to his other knee, a reinjury of his repaired knee or whether his recovery from surgery has never been adequate?

Either Way. Both his knees have been repaired now.

I believe the knee that is bothering him is the one he injured last year. Then he had it cleaned up in fall camp and was supposed to be back in a few weeks, but he keeps experiencing soreness.

Thanks for the info

You can add Hart to that list, he was on the 2 deep roster for TCU, but that is list of 7 guys with I think a total of 0 catches. So their deep at Blocking TE, not so much at Receiving TE. Most of those guys don't even have a catch in a spring game.

Maxx was special, but I think in this offense the TE's main purpose in life is to block. If we can find a couple guys that can do that, we'll be able to lean on that part of the scheme as much as ever. I think 4-wide spreads are challenging to get things covered, but smash-mouth can break the will of even the guys on the sideline watching your defense get man-handled.

Lingen and Wozniak each caught a pass vs. TCU.

On TOS, a doctor added his thoughts and basically said that an ACL repair that requires a scope is a bad sign and indicates that the knee is unstable and other bad stuff. That was when the first reports hit and everyone assumed he'd be back in 2 weeks, the dr said he thought it was a bad sign and doubted he'd be back soon. Hopefully he's wrong and didn't have all the info, or they can do something else to address the problem. Duke is a great kid and hope everything works out well for him.
