in regards to Gopher Basketball?

I'll start (and let the next poster take Tubby). I am thankful for upgrading to grown-up seats this year, and getting to sit with Moonlight and Sir Moonlight. Then we have 2+ hours to catch up on the Gopher gossip, it has cut down many phone calls and emails. I also love our seats...they made it a very smooth conversion from the student section!

I'm thankful that not all highly-touted freshman have sticky fingers.

I'm thankful for the sights and sounds of Williams. I'm thankful for each new season. I'm thankful for GH. I'm thankful for the band. I'm thankful for the players and the coaches.

I'm thankful for the Big Ten Network as it allows me to watch games here in Colorado.

I am thankful for Art Vandelay. He makes most other posters better.

I am thankful for Rick Mons, who works his butt off on our pick the winner boards.

I am thankful for GopherLady's photo of the Bucky game.

I am thankful for ALL Gopher Athletics.

Besides the team on the court and the great fans, I'm thankful for Stub & Herbs for all the great cheer that bar brings to Gopher basketball.

I'm thankful for
  • the friends I've made over the years on the 'hole
  • the friends in our section (114) -- I've had a couple of folks help out Alec from time to time; folks in the seat backs who wave us down when there's some unoccupied seats and a lot of good-natured joshing
  • the band -- when they're not there, there's this huge void in terms of spirit and atmosphere
  • Tubby for his stare and being a class act
  • my wife for tolerating my interest in college BB and nodding sympathetically even though she really doesn't care and probably doesn't understand what the heck I'm talking about

Northwestern Tickets

I'm thankful that NU tickets are so readily available so I can see Purdue and Minnesota play here in Chicago.

I'm thankful for the direction this program is moving in, for the chance to watch Rodney bring myself and 15,000 other fans to their feet with some amazing feats of athleticism, and for the fact that we may have a serious power forward on the court soon.

I'm thankful that Al Gore provided this wonderful tool that gives me the ability to watch play by play of live Gopher games, that I have a community of Gopher fans to keep me updated on the events with the Gophers and college basketball, and I'm able to watch highlights of the freshman phenom and his teammates while living on another continent.

Hmmmm......

I'm thankful that the group of people that frequent this board the most are 10 times more mature and civil and ASTUTE than the majority of those on the football board.

I'll get cheesy...and off-topic a bit. I'm thankful that my family is well and supports me no matter what faults I have as a person. I'm thankful that my Dad had a passion for Gopher Hoops and introduced it to me at an early age. I'm thankful that God gave us the freedom to behave like idiots in a free-Internet world and thankful for the "Ingore" feature on GH that enables us to skip posts from others who feel the need to belittle fellow Gopher fans. Go Gophers!

Excellent post...

This thread warms my heart...of maybe that was the wine? Just kidding, I love reading all of your responses!

19 home games at Williams. OK... sometimes I'm not very pleased with the teams, but that's a different thread. It's a long winter and getting ones ass up and going out of the house to Williams Arena is always something to look forward to, even when it's 25 below. I've got good people in our section as well, knowledgeable and they "get it." I love that Barn.

Thankful

I am thankful that Minnesota has such strong and quality Univeristies (especially the U of M).

Bemidgi State is another school that I have close to my heart.

I am also thankful (as a goher holer who doesn't have seaon tickets) to have tickets to a few games (especially the Michigan State game in January)

I'm thankful for the year that wasn't when Sir M & I met and fell in love watching Bobby Jackson emerge as a phenom. I'm thankful that Sir M & I went on to get our season tickets and have had many wonderful years attending games together and meeting some great people. I'm thankful that my kids are as into it now as we are - our relatives know we have to leave by 7:00 tonight to get home to watch the game together.

I'm thankful we have now have Gopherlady in the big people seats with us and get her input on the latest in happenings as well the best places for cheap drink and eats. Its going to be a great year!

Defense. I love watching a team that plays intense pressure defense with the depth to do it all game. It's, to me, the way basketball is meant to be played.

I've got another one to add - I wasn't on GH all night (due to Thanksgiving stuff), and I came back to check it - and it's been amazing. Usually, even after a win, there's tons of negativity...I have never, ever, in my entire time posting on GH, ever seen the board so optimistic, excited, and positive. It's really a joy, and makes me even more excited about basketball season (if that was possible).

Great win tonight, boys - let's take the whole tourney!!!
