GO KFAN! lol
are Dave Lee, Dan Gladden and Paul Allen. Perhaps I'm out of touch, but these three guys annoy me like no other announcers ever have. I have to believe Paul Allen has some sort of personality disorder.
all of my friends think paul allen is the best play by play guy ever. i try to tell them how awful he is but they won't hear a word against him.
Moving off of WCCO would be a huge mistake. Whatever it's faults, KSTP and KFAN are no better and being on 50,000 watts does mean something. The Gopher radio network, especially for basketball is poor. I grew up in north-central Minnesota and if you wanted to listen to the Gophers on the radio, it was WCCO or nothing for basketball. Football could usually be found on a local station but it was still a search as it seemed no one kept it for more then 1-2 years at a time. It was a mistake for the Twins to move to KSTP as well, IMO, but thier network is a lot better then the Gophers and has other blow torch stations (WNAX in Yankton and KFGO in Fargo.) You can't underestimate the value of having your games reach a good chunk of the upper-midwest with one swoop. I realize there probably aren't many recruits listening to games on AM radio, but thier parents/grandparents may be. I can sometimes get it all the way in VA when the weather is right.
I remember trying to tune in to Gopher basketball games on WCCO up in the northwestern part of the state, because at the time there wasn't a local station that had the games. It wasn't easy, it took a good radio, but you could just barely get it.
Farm reports are irrelevant to people living in the Twin Cities, but it is a strong station that goes out a long way into the farm areas. Perhaps they should be "farmed out" to more local stations though.
Traders aren't listening to the radio.
Hell, is anyone listening to the radio anymore?
I watched the first 2 minutes of the Minnesota NCAA bball game on my phone while stuck in traffic in the back of a cab. Welcome to 2010.
