I'm slowly warming up to Edsall

I'd be fine with Edsall. Knows what he's doing and he seems very dedicated. If he can improve his recruiting, I think he brings a nice combination of skills to the program.

I will be very underwhelmed if Edsall is the hire. His losing Big East conference record says it all (22–26 in 7 seasons including 2010). I understand the intangibles many have brought up, but if the fanatic fans on this board have to 'warm' to the hire, then surely so will the average fan, players and recruits. As someone else said, he's probably a solid baseball double, but I was hoping for at least a triple. Doesn't mean we can't eventually score, it's just a little harder.

He would be considered a home run by nearly every expert in the country. The fanatics on this board, for the most part, are just looking for a big splash without realizing all that goes into it. I also think that the fanatics on this board overestimate the way the Minnesota job is viewed by most. Make no mistake: Minnesota is seen as a joke by most in the country and it is not because of Brewster.

If Edsall is, in fact, the coach, it will be spun as a huge coup on ESPN. This type of publicity will be good for the average fan. Luckily for all of us, the average fan doesn't read the crap that is spewed on this board. The posters on here are not experts, just fanatics. If I have to explain to someone the difference in blocking between a zone play and a Power play, I can say fairly certainly that the person is not an expert.

We're talking about the same coach of the connecticut team that lost to Temple, at Michigan, and got shut out at Louisville. Three of their last five wins were FG or less -- flip one or two of them and UConn is 6-6/7-5. Edsall is a "meh" coach in my opinion...he's nothing stellar and has had some poor years as well.

He's the beneficiary of having a decent team win some games in a bad, bad year for the Big East.

Edsall is certainly not even in my top two tiers (home run hires and doubles) of who I would want.

It may be spun as a huge coup for Minnesota, but would it be a huge coup for Miami? There are many 'experts' that publicly say Minnesota can't land a top coach, so naturally they'll think this is a great hire for Minnesota.

We've hired coaches with average records before and they were average here as well. If we had to drop down to a tier 3 coach, which Edsall is for me, then maybe we should hire Mike Leach.

Edsall would'nt be a bad hire and he may surprise me with consistent winning Big 10 records. It's just not the kind of hire I thought we were going for.
