I'm kinda glad the season is over

It was the most exciting season in recent memory...but damn it was also the most stressful.

I'm enjoying non panic level viewing of some games on the DVR without stressing out about the next game.
I’m sorry you feel that way. I guess I don’t understand at all.

What kind of season would you prefer? 6-6 where they lose to everyone they should and beat everyone they should? That ain’t happening.

15-0 where they beat everyone by 30? That ain't happening.

This was the most fun and enjoyable season ever. Wouldn’t trade it for any of my previous 50+.

I think he just means he’s glad that he can reminisce about the season, and not deal with the constant ringing in the back of his head that is reminding him there’s another crucial game Saturday that he has to stress all week about. Some people invest a lot of mental energy into these football seasons, and it gets emotionally draining. I try drawing the line and saying “it’s just sports“, but this year I found that to be too difficult and I got sucked into stressing. It got so bad that me and my uncle and cousins had a group text conversation that I was sending about 20 messages a day to. I was checking gopher hole about 10-15 times a day for new injury updates or any breaking news that might affect the upcoming game. Got obsessive. Not that I’m exhausted or glad the seasons over, I’d like to experience it all over again right now, but I get why someone would say it.

Loved every minute of the season, wish it was still going on.

My wife, kids and dog are happy the games are over. I am not. But, seasons always have to end at some point and this was a great ending.

The end of the season does free up time for other (probably more important or necessary) endeavors but I’m not jumping up and down a primary distraction from real life is gone for 8 months. There is already some anticipation for next season. I suppose this is why some fans move onto basketball, hockey, baseball, or the always enjoyable bickering on Gopherhole which has already begun in earnest.

On to the Wild and Gopher hockey/bball for me for the next few months...then the Twins.... But last Gopher football season was a lot of fun.

It was one heck of a ride. From the slow start where we needed to pull a few Houdini acts to survive, to the dominant middle where we were crushing Big Ten teams, to the hard fought end where we took down Penn State, came up just short against Iowa, laid an egg against Wisconsin, and then dominated Auburn.

Will be very interesting to see what the team comes up with for an encore next year. Exciting time to be a Gopher Football fan, and see the team start to have some very long overdue success. Hopefully Fleck and Co. can keep on building on this year and get the program to the level we have all dreamed about for a long long time.

I said it a few minutes after the end of the Outback Bowl, I was sad the season was over and still am. It was a fun, magical season, yet there's no guarantee it will ever be replicated. I hope like hell it will be, over and over, and a new golden age of Minnesota football is upon us, but I've seen through Gopher sports over the years to know that good health and a fortuitous schedule and the right bounces and clutch plays may not happen just that way again. That's why I loved this season so much and wish we were still playing.

My heart and liver are glad the season is over. ;)

Yeah my phone was blowing up from fellow fans ... especially approaching Penn St.... can't avoid nervous energy ...

I don't get that way for football so much but have experienced the stress for Gopher basketball for some reason. I don't know if I'll ever watch another Gopher BG10 road basketball game. Too frustrating.

I actually am happy it is over and I am already excited for Spring Ball and thestart of Fall practice but one thing I will be glad is also over is the hype of "it hasn't happened in........." whne you start comparing to years where they played high school teams like Shattuck Minneapolis city schools or even Carleton College it got pretty tiresome

now things will be compared to 2019 season

Prior to the Auburn game, I was stressing out that a loss in the bowl game would mean losing 3 out of the final four games and there'd be a little tarnish on the season.

During the Outbackbowl I was on pins and needles, worried things would turn on every possession, every play. I remember seeing the graphics pop up showing how thoroughly the Gophers were winning the statistical battle but it just didn't feel that way. I was soooooo nervous. Now, after the game, I have re-watched it more times than I care to admit and knowing the outcome, it feels much more like a blowout and it is so enjoyable without all the stress that came with it when it was live.

So, I totally relate to the point the OP was making. I thoroughly enjoyed the season like none other but in the thick of each weekly game, I spent a lot of time stressing things would go well.

As Gopher Football fans we are conditioned to expect the worst but I think things are finally on the right track with strong potential for sustainability. There will be fluctuations and certainly double digit wins can't be counted on every year but I truly believe we are at the point where the team will be a contender for the West on a yearly basis.

I am super excited to see what we can do on offense next year. It is so rare to have the level of returning experience that we do, especially along the offensive line. For as good as the offense has been there is another gear out there that we hopefully hit in 2020.

Yeah I was worried about the same as far as fan momentum goes ... that Auburn win should be pretty huge goes as far as keeping fan's attention.

Man you hit pretty good I think.

Oddly for me Auburn ... less so.

I actually think PJ has reversed some of my "oh man no let's not do this again" expectations.

Even in that 3rd quarter I really believed we were playing like we would pull it out.

Same for me with Auburn...bowl games usually don't bring the sweat like a normal Big Ten game does.

Funny, but I was slightly stressing before the Nebraska game. That's the game where I really felt the Gophers turned the corner and could be special.

Most of the "easy" big 10 games I feared as we've yet to have a season where I didn't feel like the gopher's didn't "derp" a game or two... until this year.

I think with Auburn part of the stress was going down so quick with the INT & then the kickoff TD. Clawing back into it was fun but it felt like it could turn either way on a dime just because how close the score was and their reputation.

I understand that. National media at that time seemed to still be pumping NEB’s tire

Edit: pregame nerves versus in-game nerves would be a whole different order!
