Husker's mistake is comparing us to major programs. They can wait for the cream of the crop; we can't. However, in his defense the Saban rumors we very strong well before Jan.3.

So we should just hire the first thing that accepts without seeing if a better candidate emerges?
 

Maturi's crime here seems to be doing a good job of keeping the process under wraps. Everyone is just filling the gaps in based on their relative pessimism or optimism.

Bingo. No one knows what's going on, and it pisses them off. He could utterly fail this hire, or hit it big, but the truth is, no one has a clue which he's gonna do at this point, and they can't stand it lol.

So the 2 coaches Colorado hired are done coaching for the year? And Dan McCarney wasn't coaching for Florida in November when he was offered the job?
 


If you're dead set on being miserable then be miserable I guess. This will resolve itself soon.

They weren't sitting head coaches either... Less trauma if a coordinator or position coach looks to make a move up.

No, but enough coaches who have been rumored to be candidates are still playing this weekend that I think we ought to wait to see if one of them is going to be the guy. We could know Monday or Tuesday if that's the case.

Okay fair enough but if nothing happens in one week can we hit the panic button. You guys do realize that we have been hearing about coaches telling us no and how things are not going well? Edsall does little for me. That can't be our last hope.
 

I don't put much stock into those reports one way or the other. There's an information vacuum and people are desperate to fill it with innuendo. The fact that so little solid information has leaked out gives me the impression of competence.

I didn't put much into KFAN's but ESPN's reports scary me. Mike Leach would not be proud.

Yes, we have been "hearing" of coaches telling us no, but we don't know if those were legit leaks, pure speculation, or smokescreen. Nobody has publicly said "Minnesota offered me the job but I wanted no part of it" and it defies logic that some of the people who are rumored to have said no would do so.

Let's be calm and logical (but still refresh GH hundreds of times per day).

By next Thursday if we don't have an announcement, I will start becoming concerned.
 



By the way, what is Colorado thinking hiring a Mike Shanahan TE coach?
