I hear the Minnesota Rouser. This guy starts rambling as usual. I hear him mention gopherhole. He takes a little shot at this site by saying he doesn't care for the people here or care for the site. It sounded like you people were the little deal and he was the big deal.

I almost drove off the road with laughter. Does this well educated, self-important, crying little child actually read this place?

Do you people get under this nerds skin? HILARIOUS

I tried to make out what he was saying. It was something to do with Ralph Sampson. I couldn't tell if he was ripping sampson or offering up some love for his last game.

What a major tool! Gopherhole got some air time last night.

Oh, and "HI DANNY!"

Reusse mentioned GH also yesterday. Lots of disdain for the folks here which really hurts. Like Uncle Fester, he referenced the Ralph Sampson article by Scoggins and how much of an uproar people were about it here. Don't recall that much, but Pat could call people hypocrites which made him feel good while waiting for his next gas attack.

Scoggins came on and was fine with everything. It was interesting that Chip felt athletes should be treated differently not only if they were in college rather than in the pros, but also the year in school made a difference to him. Reusse immediately stated that given what the U was asking for a ticket, the college athletes were fair game also so his love of Ralph isn't that deep.

Just amazing to me how even these old time journalists have whored themselves to the new bosses. They spend their time looking for hits, comments, and ratings by agitating as many people as possible without crossing the line, but then they whine and pout whenever people come back at them.

A general rule the media lives by:

It is OK for them to be critical of someone/something, but it is not OK if someone dares criticize them.

That's it, in a nutshell.

This isn't going to make you happy but Barriero is a big deal, his negativity can wear at times but he is at the top of the heap in this town. Reusse on the other hand, is a barrel of constant negativity about the present and future and pollyanna and nostalgic about anything in the past making his show unlistenable.

what heap?

What heap would this be?

Little to no accoutability is not good for anyone. Media included.

I didn't hear him say that, but I find it interesting. I've noticed that he trots out "insights" of his own that just happen to correlate to posts on this site over the previous few days. Based on that, I think he reads this board regularly and takes a lot of the conversation to heart. He just doesn't want to admit it.

The guy runs a good show. It's like he was born to be a radio host. God knows he wasn't born to be a writer or journalist. His columns back in the day were largely brutal.

I think Gaard reads the forums and gives it as show prep material to Barreiro.

Sounds like some of the GopherHole commenters, SS.

This is true because the media has LICENSE!

Dan is hard to listen to and his side kick is annoying as well. Flip was great, I'll be listening every Friday from 4-5.

I'm all for them mentioning GopherHole - drives more people here to contribute, which makes the boards better.

As for his sidekick, Justin Gaard - I have an incredible amount of respect for him. I was a little hesitant about him being the sideline reporter for the Gophers, partially because he was an Iowa fan, but he blew my expectations out of the water. He did a fantastic job. The kid knows what he's talking about, and really see him as a rising star.

"i'm driving home last night and flip to barrerio "

Why did you flip a flip to Barreio?

I agree with you that talk of GH is a great for bringing others in. I just wish Reusse would not always display such hatred towards the football program. Even the positives are negatives for him. I know he gets off on GHers dislike for him and I don't get people like that. It's sad.

Justin the Iowa guy did a great job last year. He will only get better with time.

He is one of those guy that thinks his jokes are funny and whitty, when they are lame and akward. Its pretty apparent Mason and Flip get annoyed when he chimes in with stupid comments.

Dan Berriero once hosted the Dan Patrick show as a fill-in once. That's pretty decent (can't wait to hear how people on here are going to discredit that). Everyone hates him because he's not a homer, and that's just how it is. In fact, if you're not a cheerleader, people on GH won't take to you very well. Gopherholers hate me. Gopherholers hate Berriero. Gopherholers hate Reusse. Gopherholers hate Souhan. There's tons of hate on this board. It's that simple. No one wants to respect the other side of the story.

GopherHolers hate you because you're a moron. You give up on the team after a bad first 10 minutes of the game. You then post that the game is over with 30 minutes left. Then you act like you're a really big Gopher fan but everything you say shows disdain for the team. That's why people hate you. You're a do*che

Agree for the most part with the first sentence. As for Gaard, he has done a good job since the Gophers went to KFAN. For me personally, its hard to respect someone like him though because he's done a total 180 as far as his attitude towards the U. That's all fine and great now, but for me it shows how fake he really is.

I thought you had left for good?

Zambam encapsulates you in a nutshell. there are many many Gopher fans on this site who provide informed thoughtful criticism; you do not. The next time I read a thoughtful "other side of the story" from yourself, it will double as the first time. While some on the board will bristle at any criticism directed towards the Gophers, most are bothered by lazy, drive-by shots at the respective programs from media members who consider college sports an afterthought.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I don't like those guys because so many times their pieces are misinformed or they always purposely leave out the other side of the story. A few years ago on signing day, Barreiro and Gaard were talking about how bad the Gophers were at signing in state kids. They mentioned all the guys that the Gophers missed on that year. Not once did they mention Gjere or Edwards, which they did on purpose because it would go against their "bit". Souhan makes it easy to hate on him. Look at the whole Xavier thing a few years ago. Reusse finds anything and everything wrong with the U, and never talks about the good things they may be doing.

I don't expect them to be cheerleaders for the school or anything. But I do expect so called professionals to act somewhat professional and actually do a little research once in awhile.

As for you BigGopherFan, I think most people don't like you because you're so way over the top all the time.

Is it really apparent? Because I've actually talked to Mase about Gaardsy and he thinks he is well prepared, and his questions are insightful. He has been nothing but impressed, and that's from the man himself...so I'm wondering where you're getting your information?

Apparent, yes.

Right.... you are claiming that as a direct quote.

Gaardsy is good at what he does. He did a very nice job as the sideline guy I thought.

Dan B. is who he is. One hour of listening does not encapsulate how good he is. I don't always agree with his opinions but what I enjoy is he doesn't pull any punches. He isn't going to give anybody hand service because they are a big name or have a great standing.
