This is a HR hire IMO

Most of the kids in Illinois he will be recruiting were probably Bears fans when Lovie was beloved and doing fairly well. At the very least this is going to put their program in the spotlight a bit and that will give the program a lot more exposure. Interesting to see how he does recruiting wise, but this is a guy who was successful in the NFL for a period of time, and that should translate pretty well. First thing is keeping the local talent in state, he does that and the program should make major strides

I mean Illinois has nothing to lose here, the program can't get much worse. Why not go for the home run?

I think it'll be good the first couple years, I think he will improve the inherited talent, the real question is can be upgrade the talent on the recruiting trail. Hopefully he can build a strong staff of who have recently been in the college game, he has the advantage being able to say he can get guys to the NFL, he knows what it takes.
