I thought it was questionable watching it myself, however I think the teams are even after our choke job at Assembly Hall. This should have been a comfortable win for Tubby and the boys with the 9 point lead in the second half. Oh well on to Iowa.

I think Austin got fouled on the swipe down by someone else, so maybe they could argue that they should have had Leonard for ot...definately a foul though.

Perhaps so, but they were awfully generous with allowing continuation whenever Paul went towards the rim as well. I call it a wash.

They called 50 some fouls in the game.

As The Grinch would say-

Deal with it.

I noticed Leonard standing up to try and get the student section to continue chanting "standing". Pretty smart move. It was just as funny when he aggressively attacked Dre I think it was and committed a foul. Then he had to hit himself in the forehead. Seems like a pretty weird dude.

ill had a 3 pt lead 5 sec to play. Why contest the shot. Dumb play. Blame them not the ref

Yeah - I noticed the players on the bench told him to sit down and he shook his head no. Funny!

I thought it was a bad call but the refs called ticky tac crap both ways

It was a foul, no question. You can't contest that shot up 3.

It was a situation where a no-call is far worse than the call.

Photographic evidence!

Didn't look like a foul to me. Bad calls all night (as usual) so this one didn't win or lose the game. Austin Hollins is a lucky man, as he made two of the dumbest decisions you can make, and neither hurt us. I really hope he can get smarter out there.

Even if it wasn't a foul, we'll call it even for the shoulder block, no-call in Champaign as Austin was driving for a potential game winner.

He was definitely fouled on both plays. I think both teams got what they deserve, one win each.

Payback for that non-call against Hollins in Champaign when he was fouled at the half court line at the end of the first OT.

I just saw the replay for the first time. I'll take it but it was an absolutely terrible call. Not that it matters but I assume that Weber will chat with the league office tomorrow.

The one call Paul got going to the basket was just as bad. It was an NBA continuation call all the way. As I always say, if the refs are going to suck, at least suck both ways...and they did.

The decisions Hollins made were bad.Tubby seemed to be the only one who thought it was a smart play.Saying that's the way we roll.No wonder with his mindset the players make so many dumb plays. So much for being a coach's son in Hollins case.Bottom line is make free throws and you don't need these frantic finishes.

He also shuffled his feet when he was walking towards the bench to try to mess up our "left - right - left" chant. Dude can't let things throw him off so easily (Rodney has similar issues).

Yeah, Leonard's arrogance is well documented.

Look at the picture, it was clearly a foul. He was caught reaching in on a drive to the basket and made contact with Austin's left shoulder. No doubt about it. Not even close to vertical, feet weren't set, easy call 5 minutes into the game or 5 seconds left in regulation.

I thought it was as much as a foul as the ones being called at the other end...so fair is fair.

We tried hard to give this game away at the free throw line like we did in the first meeting...don't know what it is but we just can't seem to beat Ill with any consistency. They are not necessarily a better team...just one we lose to...like us to Indiana.

If that was a foul then you have to blow the whistle on every play, during warmups and during the national anthem. Sorry, no advantage gained, no foul.

I've seen the same foul called hundreds of times in all sorts of situations, and there are plenty of fouls without "advantage" gained including several last night.

The one Illinois should be complaining about is the phantom foul on Coleman's missed fast break layup. Nobody touched him...he just missed.

But they should be very happy that they got away with clotheslining one of the Hollins boys at halfcourt. Luckily for us I don't think it resulted in a turnover...

Because there is physical contact on every single possession, the refs should only blow the whistle when the contact creates an advantage. In the case of Hollins' drive, the contact didn't create an advantage. Hollins made a mental error, got bailed out and we should send the ref a gift card to Best Buy. (Illinois made a mental error by not fouling early in the possession and then retaining the ball with the lead.)

Oh, and just remembered...Tubby was actually calling for a flagrant foul on this one.
