He had texted me yesterday on the way to the football game that he had committed to Minnesota and I called him in the media room before the game kicked off. Unfortunately, the PA announcer's voice was so loud, I could barely make out Andre's comments on my tape recorder, so I called him tonight after spending the entire day at the Minnetonka Fall League and I'll be posting the story soon.

I look forward to your story Chris. I know you have been very high on Andre and I look forward to seeing Andre in maroon and gold next season. There have been varying comments about Andre's ability to play point guard. What are your thoughts about Andre's shift to the point this year for his HS team and his ability to contribute at that position for the Gophers next season?
 


White Station had Joe Jackson, who averaged 29.3 points per game last season at point guard. Hollins has the ability to play both guard spots. I'm not sure if he is a true point guard, but I think that he can play both guard spots in college.

The Gophers will have Nolen and Joseph along with Ahanmisi at point guard in 2010-11
Joseph, Hollins and Ahanmisi in 2011-12
Hollins and Ahanmisi in 2012-13
Hollins and Ahanmisi in 2013-14

Plus they are still looking at Marcus Paige (2012) and Tyus Jones (2014)
 


Thanks for the story. Looks like we should have some solid guard play for some time to come.

They'll also have Bryant Allen for the 2nd half of the years. Allen was a more highley rated (by every recruiting service) basketball player than Ahanmisi, so I wouldn't be at all shocked if Allen was getting minutes ahead of Ahanmisi in 2010-11, 2011-2012, and 2012-2013.
 

Wasn't Bryant Allen rated higher than Justin Cobbs as well?

Dont forget about Chambers from Hopkins, he is local prospect who imo is a pure PG.

Yes, we will have Allen much earlier this season (at the end of November) and he could play his 5th year the entire season if it works out.

Also, there is no guarantee Ahanmisi will even be here next season.

I'd love to see Allen get minutes. I haven't seen much to inspire confidence from Maverick, but maybe he'll turn out well. But from what I've seen, Allen is a better defender, quicker, and more athletic. I could see him being an asset this year. He impressed me at times last year, although it was obvious that he was rusty.
