I'm so sick of the excuses for Tubby and his lackluster recruiting. Mediocre coach and mediocre performance once again.

Actually he is one of the Top 15 coaches (per NCAA W-L records for Div I coaches) and Top 10 for career W-L records in NCAA tournament games.

He's one of only 10 active coaches who have won the NCAA title.

How did this thread get so long? All 3 players being discussed were Wisconsin commits before Tubby even got to Minnesota. I don't believe Tubby has lost a single in state kid since taking the job. I guess you could argue Sam Dower, but he wasn't a priority guy.

Gophers preferred Mbakwe to Dower in 2009 class. Both are MN players.

I think almost everyone on this board prefer Mbakwe to Dower. Unless Dower really grows physically he will never be as good as Mbakwe is. Plus Mbakwe only has a 2 year scholarship so that lets Tubby have another one to give in a couple years.
