If Melvin the " __?__ can rush for 400. Cobb will get an easy 200.

I think you are dreaming. The Gophers gave up almost 500 yards yesterday so they did not exactly play great defense yesterday. The Gophers have been out gained in most games this year. They have not faced a back anywhere near Gordon. If Barrett can go for almost 200, I am afraid to say that Abdullah and Gordon could be in for big days. If there is one thing I am getting sick of hearing is how great the Gopher defense is.

The defense the past two years is a lot better than we've had in year's past. We allow a good amount of yards sometimes, but we also usually don't allow a lot of points. Turnovers are one of the big reasons. We're 5th out of 14 in the BT in points allowed and 2nd in forced turnovers with 25 behind Michigan St. In 2012 we were 8th out of 12 in points allowed and forced just 20 turnovers in 13 games.

We're not at the level of Michigan St., Wisconsin, or OSU but we're making progress.

Gordon is significantly better than Cobb.

Started going to games at Memorial Stadium way back when. Season ticket holder. Born and raised in Minnesota. Sorry to disappoint.

Why do you follow the Gophers? A quick perusal of your past posts show you picking Michigan and Iowa to beat Minnesota, complimenting Eastern Illinois on outplaying the Gophers, and picking Montana to beat the Gophers in basketball last year.

Chris Spielman, whom I admire and respect as a player and analyst, was pretty funny in his criticism of Nebraska's lack of effort to tackle Gordon. He did everything but question their manhood. Wow. If the Huskers hear about or read about his comments, they will undoubtedly play balls out on Saturday.

Curious, what were the numbers for Wisconsin's STARTING RBs in those games?

Ball and White killed the Gophers. White also killed the Gophers when he was not the starter. Gordon rushed for 1600 last year. Does it really matter that he was not the "starter"?

Do the math junior. Wait, I'll help you. 22 times he carried the ball and averaged 4 yards in two years.
He won't run the edges like he did against Nebraska. Plus, I expect Wilson to light him up a couple times. Let's see how frisky Melvin the "__?__ does after he gets his bell rung a few times.

I am the only one who doesn't know what Melvin the "____?_____" means?

I just assumed "Heisman Trophy Candidate" but I suspect Ruppert would put in different words.

Love your confidence in our run defense but if we hold him to around 100 yards I will consider that a victory because he has only had one game this year where he was held under 100 yards and has gone over 200 multiple times. Key to stopping them will be stopping him from breaking off the really long runs and controlling everything else.

Gordon vs

NW= 259 yds and 1 TD
PUR= 205 yds and 1 TD
Ill = 175 and 4 TDS

Cobb vs
NW = 97 yds.
Ill= 118 yds and 2 TDS
Pur = 194 yds and 1 TD

Yes, it matters. In college football you'd expect a player to get better from year to year. Including a single player's stats in a single game from his freshman year in an analysis of what that player will do in the 12th game of his junior year is ridiculous, even if he had been the starter his freshman year.

Put it another way. If someone pulled a post from a Badger board over in which the poster noted that in the past two meetings with the Badgers David Cobb had only 68 yards, how would that analysis be received?
