I'd learn the hook shot. Sampson looks like a nice college player who doesn't have NBA skill sets. However, that hook shot looks awfully sweet. He's a smart guy for working on it because I think it could get him a job in the pros. Don't know why more big guys don't spend time on it.

It is a thing of beauty! The key for him is recognizing the double team which I was very surprised Western Kentucky didn't adjust to last night. I have no doubt that with more game film, teams will make this adjustment, so hopefully he doesn't force the issue and quickly kicks it out to the open man, but until they do, keep taking it big fella'!

Go Gophers!!

I like the move and the value of good 3 point shooters show with that type of move. Ralph had the time to dribble twice (one is probably enough) and set the move up because the Gophs kept Hoff on his side. If the double comes down, kick it out. When Joseph comes back you can move Nolen into the opposite corner and have Hoff and Joseph at the line waiting for the kick on the double.

Nice.

His skill set is fine. How many 6'11 dudes can walk and chew gum?

If anything, I'd question whether he has NBA toughness.

If I were seven feet tall I would hit my head on a lot of doorways.

I was including toughness in my definition of skill set. Agreed.

The Garfield line is still the best: "I'm not overweight...I'm undertall."

As a six foot point guard...my only go-to shot was the baby hook. If only the coach would have posted me up more!

The hook shot is the most unstoppable shot in the history of the game! Against a tall player it's simply impossible to defense. A 7' footer with his lead shoulder in your chest, shooting a jump hook has a release point of about 10' & by the time it gets to where you the defender can touch it it's about 12'+ high & you have to try to jump that high, while flat footed. Kareem Abdul Jabbar is the highest scoring player in NBA history & that was his go-to move. He used to try & teach to to big men, but he gave up saying (paraphrasing) "The young guys think the hook doesn't look cool. They'd rather be bad."
