Just got this emailed to me. At least the U is at least trying to fill up the student section. I can tell you that I'll be using mine for sure.

I like this, rewards the students who bought season tickets AND gets more butts in the seats.

Serious questions...Was this ever done while MACturi was AD?

Because, I do think it is a good idea. The key, to me, is to get students to the game, be it by paying or getting in free, just so they can experience TCF stadium. Over time, students will (hopefully) enjoy the game day experience and be willing to pay for tickets. But for now, we just need to get them to the game. Nice move by the AD.

Nice. I would wonder if we will get to the point where we have free admission to any minnesota resident for the msu game. Probably not a bad idea.

Update: Just received a SECOND email that is now offering ONE STUDENT ticket in addition to ONE GUEST ticket. Wondering if the first one was a mistake by them and it's canceled. I don't know, because I already had my order put through by the time this second email came. They must be looking for more kids to rush the field after we win the jug

GET YOUR YOUNG BUTTS TO THE GAME, PUPS!!!!!!!!!

I hope not, I already spent $20 on an extra ticket for that game haha. It's looking like tickets for that game will be found for $5. Unless of course we are 3-0 in November at that point and playing for a spot in Indy!! A guy can dream.

So is this in addition to the $10 or $20 ticket offers (whatever they have been) to the public??

Glad they are trying to figure out ways to get students to a game. It is a shame we have to do so much just to get people there but it is the reality of where we are at right now.

So from what I can gather, the 1 free guest pass is for Football season ticket holders, and they also sent hockey (and I assume basketball, although I don't have those tickets) season ticket holders the 1 free student and 1 free guest pass emails. So I claim both and now have 1 free student and 2 free guest passes. Now I just have to see if I can find anyone who wants to use them...

The sad part is that I'm gonna have more trouble getting the student ticket in to someone's hands than I will the guest tickets. I hope the incoming classes have more pride than the dead beats we have here now.

I would be able to make use of a student ticket and a guest pass to the Michigan game this Saturday if either of you would really like to get them off your hands. If either of you would like to meet up, send me a pm.

Not a big deal. Northwestern students get into football and basketball games of free.

Where I went to school it was just part of your overall tuition package. Everyone got charged a student activity charge and it covered all sports at the school.

We need more like you.

I am in favor of doing unpredictable promotions like these for key games during the season until the team can turn consistent performance around. At that point student demand should be as such where kids are scrambling to buy tickets because they fear there may be no tickets available. Clever advertising could give off the perception that student tickets are scarce.

I would be interested to see the actual numbers for student ticket sales for the Syracuse game. Presumably that is when students, and even professors, were constantly talking gopher football. I know the game was announced as a sellout, but it would be interesting to see how many student tickets were actually sold, and when, vs. how many tickets were given away in order to fill the section. Whatever combination the AD did for student tickets before that game, it worked.

But but but...they're devaluing my season tickets!!!

I didn't see that one - would you mind forwarding the email to me, please? [email protected]

Thanks!

We should have used the $800,000 to pay the students to go to the games.

So any chance we do this for the MSU game? I know the student section was a total humilation on Saturday but maybe this helped. The MSU crowd could be under 20k. The $10 tickets won't cut it. Make it free admission for everyone plus hand out freebies to anyone who brings a kid under 12 years old.

If we do it, then I'll be regretting the $20 I already spent on a ticket for an out of towner to go with me. O well, what's done is done. We very well might do it. Especially if we lose to Illinois, the media will go into a frenzy. I just won't even think about that possibility.
