With the B1G expanding, I thought our last chance at a winning something was meaningful due to the very favorable West being dissolved.

Looking at this season with hindsight, THIS WAS THE SEASON if we had put together a more competent team. Literally, all of our games (with the exception of PSU) should have been winnable. Even our OCC game vs. UNC, they are coming off their QB being a 1st RD draft pick and are very average this year – the same with USC with the QB situation. How many times are we going to play 2 teams the year after their QB’s get drafted in the 1st RD?

Going into the season, I chalked up MI as a loss as they were defending National Champions but their fall off is second only to FSU and they are likely to finish .500 on the season. Both Iowa and WI are average and very beatable – both teams being very beatable in the same season is very rare so a unique opportunity.

Lastly, with the season Indiana has put up, it shows what is winnable if you win the games against the middle and lower end of the B1G. They could easily end up 11-1 and in the playoffs. This would actually be far superior to our 2019 season and they did it in the era of NIL and the expanded B1G – but they did it by only playing 1 really good team in a very lucky season schedule wise. I really did not think this would ever be possible again. So, I was wrong. This season was a huge blown opportunity but maybe things will align more often that I ever thought possible.

The schedule has more variance now by a lot
We are going to get impossible schedules and easy schedules.

Indiana is into mid November and their best win is against 5-4 Washington

Which is just wild to me. Heading into the season, they had PSU, both team from the 2023 National Championship game, and OSU on their schedule. I am sure most went into the season thinking 4 losses at a minimum. Really special season for them.

Lastly, I should add that Illinois should have been in the same situation with Indiana going 10-2 this season. I don't know the next time the stars will align for them again the same way in the future.

They didn’t have PSU on the schedule?

With all due respect, this is such a “things will never be easier, we are even worse than we think” Minnesotan take. It’s the first year of the expanded B1G. We will be fine. With the exception of 3 or 4 teams, every other team in the conference will be in the same position. Getting a few favorable bounces to turn a bad season into a good season or a good season into a great season.

UNC field goal misses, Michigan ref, and yesterday dropped pick six/Geers fumble...

Other teams can probably claim similar though.

Bad loss if we're honest before last nights game the ceiling was 8 wins, now it's 7

Not exactly that big of a deal
