I want this for Minnesota football

I don't really listen to anything PJ says for a lot of reasons, but he was very unPJ like in the fact that he wasn't downplaying expectations and actually saying the skies the limit instead of holding up his pencil drawn cart (of excuses).

I don't think this season was/is a rebuild for a lot of reasons, but it has been a season of questions.

We had questions at QB, Oline and the secondary (and new DC).

We figured out 1 (QB) of the three so far. Drake isn't perfect but he obviously is a different level of QB at Minnesota. I love his play and upside.

My guess was 6-6/7-6 both of which are still in play (not including the bye week victories - I haven't heard and was away from media most of the weekend, did we win this bye week? I guess I'll just have to wait for tomorrow's presser to figure it out.)

In line with the changes we were going through but far from a rebuild.

In the transfer portal era, rebuilds will happen but are not the same thing as the reality some programs faced 10 years ago.
I agree I wouldn't call this season a rebuild. I also wouldn't say we had the group to have another. 2019 either. I thought 8-4 at the start, losses to OSU, Iowa and Oregon and one other one (Cal as it turns out) Can still achieve that goal, no guarantees but beating NW and Wisconsin is more than doable. I'd feel pretty good about our chances if the punter leads the team in passing yards again lol.
I would say coming into the year my biggest concerns were cornerback, oline and linebacker play. We seem to be playing more man this year, probably due to in experience at the corner spots. We have 3/5ths of an oline with the right side being a turn style. I think Williams and Maverick have mostly done a good job at linebacker, with Kingsberry being a please t surprise while Robertson the transfer has mostly disappointed. WR play been okay, l like Smith and Tracy and it's been nice to see Brockington stay healthy, but we just don't have any elite talent there. Average players having average years. Perhaps Smith and maybe Martino and Coleman can get there as they get older. Anyways go 8-4, 6-3 in the league, hopefully win the bowl game (would love to play either LSU or Vandy) it's a good not great year but with some of our warts it's tough to complain about it. Could very well have a better team next year and finish with a worse record
