I thought hockey fans were supposed to be so pasionate.

Can someone point me to the Gopher specific basketball site or football? Clowns.

Stoa, you and I have gotten along great here on GH. But to give S19 hell for opening a thread with a simple damned question is not acceptable to me. I thought the young folk were supponed to be above this petty nonsense and into that "live and let live: malarkey.

To be fair Don, it was a pretty antagonistic question by 19 (Who is generally a very good poster). He had to know that there was going to be a blow-back for this thread. Minnesota is far more of a hockey state than any other in the U.S.

For the record, hockey is squarely behind football and basketball for me and is probably tied with soccer.

Absolutely not. We've heard many times how this is a hockey state/state of hockey. I noticed there is much, much less traffic on the hockey forum vs the basketball forum and I post the numbers.

Next thing I know I'm accused of trashing other Gopher sports and the University of Mn, being antagonistic, trolling and making a thread all about meeeeeee. You'd think I started a race riot.

I didn't realize saying "I thought hockey fans were supposed to be so passionate" was that insensitive and not PC.

My goodness.

Why did he spell passionate with only one 's?'

Soccer? Well the 12 to 24 year old demographic have said pro soccer is their second favorite sport behind the NFL. Times are changing.

4four4, bolded part of your comment has an explanation. The 12 to 24 year old demographic has never taken the time to enjoy the exciting experience of listening to grass grow.

This thread was intended for the basketball forum not the hockey forum as it was comparing basketball forum viewers to hockey forum viewers.

Moving this thread was wrong.

We are not talking ESPN here, pup. We are talking GopherHole so take your ESPN stats and go off and enjoy them.

So just because people on GH don't follow the Gopher hockey part on here, means they aren't as passionate about hockey? I've been a member on here for years, but go to GPL to get my hockey fix. GPL's content is fantastic and has all the Gopher info I need...

I'm as big of a Gopher homer (FB, BB, and hockey) as anyone, but hockey probably has the most loyal fanbase of any of the sports at the U. When was the last time a football or basketball fan base took over an opposing teams' stadium? Because that has regularly happened with hockey fans here for many years.

You're right Gopherocious, the Rouser always sounds a little prouder on away ice!

16 ppl on the hockey forum and 300 ppl on the basketball forum.

That's because GopherHole isn't the real Hockey Forum. We're not going to invite you over though...

"I like it when a plan comes together." LOL!

WSJ guy just tweeted this
Sam Walker ‏@SamWalkers42m
Kids 6-17 made up 4.6% of World Series audience. For NBA conf. finals it was 9.4%, NHL conf. finals 9%, Premier League soccer on NBC 11%

I support all the sports at the university of Minnesota and enjoy watching them as much as I can. There is football and basketball but the program at the university of Minnesota that I am sure to defend every single time is hockey. I am way more bummed when Don Lucia doesn't sign top players in the state and not so much for football and basketball. Don't get me wrong I want to see all them do well but the passion just isn't there for the other two. So when Minnesota loses out on a top recruit my initial reaction seems to be oh well next man up. In conclusion I don't really care about Gopherhole hockey forum numbers.

There seems to be an uncharacteristic outpouring of pasion from hockey fans in this thread.

You are right Stoa. And if you check the Hockey Forum, there is NO out pouring of PASSION from hockey fans there.

But they have their GPL website to talk all things hockey, where every poster is an expert.

Nothing like the FB and BB forums, yet the hockey pucks needed their own forum. :banghead:

I love all sports. I went to a soccer game and a kickball game broke out.
I went to the fights the other night and a hockey game broke out.

Don, I really don't understand what your problem is with hockey and its fans.

IMO, I have observed the behavior of parents at hockey games and it is comparable to the behavior of parents at Jr.High softball and baseball games.

They know more than the Coaches/Refs/Umps, and probably get paid more.

Sounds a lot like the people on the FB forum. Hate them too?

Obviously, you have never witnessed parents at football or basketball games in Texas and Indiana. This type of bad behavior is going on all over the country in virtually every sport.
