I see 2 more wins, how about you? Obviously less than 2 would be a disaster. More than 2 would be a pleasant surprise. Was so excited after 2019. Thought we were heading places. The pandemic hit, coaches left, and we’re back to Glen Mason all over again. 6-6, 7-5, and a meaningless bowl game every year. At least we win the bowl games under Fleck. I don’t see a 9 win regular season anytime soon. Not sure we get an 8 win regular season anytime soon.

What are you a fortune teller? A lot changes year to year.

Oh yes Nebraska with their star qb who threw 3 picks in a come from behind win against Maryland and star running back from Minneapolis are going to win by 30 Friday night. Iowa beating the sisters of the poor. Michigan St, Northwestern is now a great team and sisters of the poor skunks. There are a lot of wins out there.

Even Oregon lost at home to Indiana today.

Let's be real here, there's OSU in tier 1, then there's Indiana and Oregon in tier 2, and then there's the rest of the conference. Whoever comes more prepared and ready to roll from kickoff week to week in that third tier gets the win with some minor exceptions (like tonight). We have five extremely winnable games left and one where we absolutely have to bring our best to have a chance.

I hope upon all hopes that tonight was an eye opener for some of our players who got absolutely fucking manhandled because we cannot bring the same shit we brought tonight for the rest of the year and hope to make a bowl. That offensive line needs to get their shit figured out tomorrow morning.

Football has a strange shaped ball and is a game of bounces. Why would you make a call on wins and losses before the games are even played? I'm sure Nebraska will watch this game film and say with an exclaimation point Minnesota straight up sucks and the Huskers already think they will truck the Gophers. A lot of new and young players and Big 10 has a lot of talented players. What's important the guys in the Gophers locker room believe they can win and play better. This team has a chance to get better if they lock in on details. Small mistakes are turning in to big ones due to simple errors. Gophers cannot keep over pursuing the QB. Oline really needs a kick in the pants. The Gopher Oline is not playing to a Big 10 standard of effort or leverage. They are not weak they are playing too tall, without proper leg drive. This Oline needs to hit some sleds, bags, and push themselves to finish blocks. I think the guys up front know they need to play better, I believe they will.

Even if they win a 3rd game.......this program has problems all over the field.

It's disappointing to say the least.

We were dominated all night. Thanks for the 4 turnovers, Purdue.
It was a frustrating game for sure, and there are definitely issues….but games are lost more often than they are won.

Every team on the Gopjers schedule is capable of losing the game, except in my mind Oregon (talent outweighs any mistakes they’d make) & Iowa (they are the kings of letting teams lose the game, so they won’t beat themselves). I feel like with all the rest of the opponents, theres a chance….

We have issues but fortunately for us so does pretty much every team left on our schedule. My outlook on the season still hasn't changed.

5 winnable games on the schedule if we play well and one likely loss unless they make mistakes and help us out.

Can't take any of the wins for granted but Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Wisconsin are all very beatable.....we could lose to each of those teams as well but we absolutely can win each of those games if we play well.

In a weird sort of way last night's game was a confidence booster of sorts. We played about as poorly as we could for much of the game yet still found ourselves in a position to win the game late and got it done.

Great to see grit at crunch time (at least at home against mediocre opposition) but struggling to run the ball while struggling to stop the run is a recipe for defeat at every level of football. Sometimes winning leads to improvement but it’s not the natural order of the sports world. We’ll find out against Nebraska.

Look man, I feel you - we emotionally feel due for another 2019. That said, if we hang on to Drake and shore up the O line we can have that soon. Truly.

I'd say michigan state and wisconsin.
I agree with you. I think those are the only games we will be favored in the rest of the season. I don't see this team being capable of beating someone they shouldn't. I think both Wisconsin and MS will be toss up games. They are bad teams and so are we.

We open as 5.5 point underdogs against Nebraska, so I'm guessing most predictions will have us as underdogs

I still think 7-5 (5-4) is possible. A pass-first offense is more likely to be successful early in the season. Late season weather favors rushing. That has to be fixed.

Problem is our OL can't be fixed by waving a magic wand. Our players on the line our not good enough to compete in the Big Ten. We don't have better players sitting on the bench. Going to take a one or two year rebuild. I don't know what is going on with the DL. I think we have talent but it has not shown up this year so far.

I see getting at least 3 Ws out of Nebraska, Iowa, MSU, Northwestern and Wisconsin.

The Purdue game is influencing this thread quite a bit. The D will be OK if they stay healthy. Purdue is decent on offense and scored an average of 25 ppg against Illinois, USC and Notre Dame. 20 against the Gophs. That running QB is tough to handle.

If the Gophs can stabilize anything in the OL, especially in the run game, they will win a few more.

If Lindsey had at least one tough dependable receiver that could catch contested balls, it would be a game changer. It seems like the officiating has decided to de-emphasize DB contact this year...which I would generally like, but it was bad timing for the Gophers.

Who could have predicted what has happened to Indiana??

Seems like if you get the perfect conditions, then they prove that almost any arbitrary P4 team can suddenly get elevated. At least for a (short) time

Bold 1: would really love to get four wins out of that. 8-4 I think would be a nice season. I think it's doable, but they have to sweep at home and then get a win on the road at Iowa or NW (which might be tougher than expected).

Bold 2: he was damn slippery. I knew they could do some things on offense when I watched a bit of the Purdue ND game, granted it was early and I know over the game ND got the better of them.

I think we can definitely beat Mich. St., NU and Wisc. Maybe, just maybe Nebraska. No chance against Iowa imo.

Ahh, certainty. The one thing humans crave more than anything else.

I'll be able to tell you with 100% certainty how many more games they will win in about 6 or 7 weeks. 😉

I think Gophs have a very good chance of beating Nebby. Who is their best win? Cincinnati?
