I may have rage issues

i stayed til the onside kick.

also the end of the first half was just atrocious. the fans booed because bad high school teams manage clock better. yes, you cant plan on an INT, but running the ball with so little time left and seemingly not knowing how many T.O.s USC had to spend was just mind bogglingly stupid looking. we had 2 T.O.s and 1:35 on the clock at our own 30, the fans booed because Brew gave up on the half not because of shoddy play. we wanted at least some kind of effort to try to score.

When Brewster decided to surrender by punting on 4th and 5 down 3 scores with seven minutes left, there was nothing wrong with leaving. Fans had any right at that point to do what they wanted. The coach gave up, so go home if you wish.

also, this. how can fans stay behind a team when their own coach doesnt?

you stayed til the end, good for you. i don't enjoy watching subpar football, get over it. i've had season tix for 10 years. i'm hardly bandwagon. insulting those of us who choose to leave early is juvenile and kind of embarrassing tbh.

you're the one trolling, spazzo.

And calling someone "spazzo" isn't insulting? That, I would consider embarrassing. Good for you, you left early to make a statement of you utter disdain of the program. Well played sir.

yeah yeah yeah, and you're like the fan teams dream of. whatever makes you feel better about yourself dude.

Or just a way to prove that you are a bandwagon jumper.

Sell your tickets, watch from home next time. No brutal commute, no worries you might get caught in traffic, and you can even turn off the tv whenever you want. Really this sounds like the best choice for you. I highly recommend it for your sanity and the enjoyment of the people sitting around you...

lol i'm not sure you quite understand the term bandwagon.

i'd say it's a pretty common way of voicing your disappointment.

And booing clearly isn't getting it done.

Reached a new low, you sometimes hear that at least they're booing, which means they still care, it's gotten to a new low...people who pay to see a game don't even care enough to stay until the end. Great job Maturi. Great job Brewster.

Publish or parish

I would prefer that fans remain to sing Minnesota Hail To Thee with the band, that is to honor out state and our school. Those of you who didn't attend Minnesota might just stay to pay respects to the host school. But, since many of you don't have ties to any thing or anybody, I understand your gypsy ways. Nobody is stopping you. It is a 'free country' after all. We say that for the convienence of not thinking of a better excuse. But, God knows the manners you brought with you and take with you. Too bad we are all so ill mannered and disrespectul that 'freedom' is our feeble excuse of loyalty, fidelity, and even courage. The Pride of Minnesota (the band) stays not to play to an empty house, but to you fans. It is after all, a love song, a seranade, a tribute. By all means leave if it is so fitting and convenient. Your life is what you make of it, a stangely nihilistic, modernist, self reliant type. Don't ever be told what to do. Resist til the bitter end. Defend your faith. Destroy what remains of the common because it sounds so socialist, recidivist, as opposed to the liberating theology of communing with men. We all love the image of the Maroboro Man, riding high in self reliance or self pity.

Sappy enough for y'all!

What he said

I didn't read through the whole thread, but when Brewster PUNTED down 3 scores with about 7 minutes left, he signaled to everybody in the stadium that the game was over.

If you wanted to beat traffic, I think you would have had better luck staying to watch the game, as when the clock ran out, there was nobody left in the stands. I think the empty stands were as predictable as Brewster's plays when you consider how we played today.

When we took a knee in the first half we gave up, when we punted in the fourth we gave up, when we didn't have the balls to try and convert other fourths we gave up. We did not play as if we wanted to win which I think our players (maybe even Weber) were capable of doing.

I am glad I am graduating so that my tuition which has raised 30% over four years will no longer be turned into a paycheck to support such incompetence.

I went to my first game at TCF bank stadium today...Does this mean that because I left with 2 minutes to play I'm not going to make it to heaven... or that I'm a nihilist?..cmon Maroboro :) man ..nobody goes to the games to watch the band..lighten up...we came.. we saw...they did better than most of us thought they were gonna do..we left...I don't feel I disrespected the school in any way...I chose to support the school/team by buying a ticket and cheering them on...too bad if thats not good enough

Oh...You're the guy that had tuition raised. All this time I thought it was only me.

Good point, if he had gone for it, I thought they had a chance.

I don't get how fans pound their chest and boast how 'great' they are by proclaiming how they support the team and belittle the ones that don't do the same.

Hey look, that's awesome that you guys do what you do to support all of our favorite NCAA football team. Lord knows I do it too (with the exception of a few gems.. Like last week). But to belittle/bemoan/whatever the ones that choose to leave early is a bit over the top. They can support our favorite team however they want.. They have the exclusive right do to as such, seeing as they paid probably a pretty penny to show up.

This 'argument' (if you can call it that) is like siblings arguing that each one loves mommy and daddy more than the other because each one does different things to show said love. It's the same thing, just expressed differently.

Common Freedom

Rousseau, Locke, St. Augustine, Luther, Monroe, Lincoln, etc.

These guys all have one thing in common, an understanding that freedom of association is only as good as its fulfillment. Nuff said. Those that leave are free to do so. Those that stay have announced loudly to those around who they really want to affiliate with.

If there was a charter on what it is to be a fan, it would include a value statement that fans don't take flight at the first beating because that would give the opponent a double victory.

Try this next week. Respond only in the positive. If a ref makes a bad call, find a way to let him have it, but only positive responses will do. In that light, I was glad that everyone left when they did, it made my walk back to the car and exit from the parking ramp a breeze!

lulz

I can't believe people are still arguing about leaving early. People leave the Twins early. People leave the Vikings early. People leave high school games early. Its going to happen. People get pissed off and leave. People get bored and leave. People have kids to go home to. People have beer to drink. I spent $150 at the game yesterday for two people ... I have no remorse about leaving early and neither should anyone else.

I usually don't leave early, one, my kid won't let me, he is there to the finish no matter what. Another reason is I have been at sporting events where the so called impossible happened. Anyone at the Wild game last season where they were down 5-1 to the Blackhawks at the end of 2, people were leaving like crazy before the 3rd period, they came back and won the game in a shootout. I was laughing thinking of all the people that left and missed that. I know people have obligations or other plans and that's fine but people that leave because their frustrated when the outcome of the game is still in doubt kind of puzzles me.

If it pains you so much, you might as well just sell your tickets and not even show up. Frankly its the whiny bandwagon sob's like you that every fanbase hates....

If I sold my ticket, I'd lose money because either a) nobody would buy it or the opposing team fan would buy it, or b) I would have to sell it at a lower price than I bought them for. I'll take option (c) and keep them and not insult other ticket holders who choose to leave when they want.

You shouldn't be worried about how empty the stands look in the fourth quarter. You should be worried what they are going to look like the next five home games.

The fact that an average of 40,000 to 60,000 fans have showed up to watch 50 years of mediocrity tells you that Gophers have some of the most loyal fans, especially in a town that has four major pro sports team competing for our money.

Judging other Gophers fans and insulting them is really what every fanbase hates....

Can you get into any of the good "restaurants" if you don't leave early? Is it still a sin if you're running to the nearest restaurant and watching the end of the game there? Or is this not allowed?

After Weber throws his Weberball, Barkley throws his Weberball. Brewster (I assume...), seeing that the odds of moving the ball down the field are worse than the odds of USC scoring points off another Weberball, decides to take a knee. Fans boo. USC takes a time out. Fans cheer.

Either there were 50,400 USC fans there today, or we have more idiots who think "Lane Kiffin is coaching the game the right way" in our fanbase than I'd care to admit.

Thank you. I just logged in to the board tonight and am dreading these posts from the "knowitalls" who somehow think we should be lobbing the ball up downfield again when we are fortunate to be down six at the half.

Brew learned his lesson the hard way when he decided to lob the ball up to Nortwestern in 08 when he should have taken a knee.

And I'm not saying it in hindsight - I was irate even before Weber threw the pick to NW.

Same here. As soon as the punt team came on, I looked over at my friend and said "Brewster is throwing in the towel, lets get out of here, as well."

+1 again. Brew quit, so did I. This is not really up for debate. I didn't pay a lot of money for my tickets to watch Brewster try to save face. I also thought it was ironic that Weber said in the press conference that he just wished they had a little more time because none of the players wanted to quit. I hope Brew heard that.
