I am an easy going guy. But when I see thousands of people leaving halfway through the 4th quarter, I just want to scream. Friggin USC is here and people want to leave early to beat the traffic. When we were playing Montana St., what would you have given to see USC instead?
If we want a big time program, we should act like big time fans.
I'm sick of this crap of people saying, "well if they played better, I'd stay" or "I'll support the team when they start winning." That's not how it works.
You have as good a team as you demand.
You have as good a team as you deserve.

sorry but i have better things to do than watch a below-average football team lose again.

Staying...

A funny thing about staying to the end...at least on the visitor's side...is as the crowd leaves the lettering for "MINNESOTA" and the UM copywrited "block M" becomes visible.

Mrs. Billd and I agreed that when indeed you can make out the "MINNESOTA" and "M" with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter this is not good.

Such was the case today, however...today though was not a "Bitter End Club" ending.

Losing still sucked, and it was certainly no moral victory, but the sting was not like last week's loss.

Go Gophers! Beat the Huskies!

Wrong. I don't owe them anything. This is a cash transaction. I pay money to come and leave when I wish. Or if I wish to make a statement by not showing up, aka next week, then that's my choice. This holier than thou attitude you are expousing isn't healthy...

You need to relax dude. I went to Nebraska last year when they played Iowa State and a quarter of the stadium left in the 3rd quuarter after their 5th TO. This is a program that has sold out for 40+ years.

The fact is that fans don't want to watch a mediocre team. Congrats that you stayed the whole game because you're such an awesome fan. The U loves you because as long as people like you care more about when people leave than whether or not our team is above mediocre they won't change anything because they'll still sell tickets. I hope you continue to enjoy watching runs up the middle on 1st and 2nd down and enjoy watching 6-6 seasons.

If it pains you so much, you might as well just sell your tickets and not even show up. Frankly its the whiny bandwagon sob's like you that every fanbase hates....

Surprise!

Our fan base has a large number of idiots. Leaving early? A minor sin compared to what passes for football IQ. All you need to see that would be to watch the last minute or so of the first half with the reaction of our fans.

As always. Stayed until me and Mrs. GoGophersRah and the little guys finished singing Hail Minnesota with the rest of the true fans.

Please elaborate.

Please elaborate.

After Weber throws his Weberball, Barkley throws his Weberball. Brewster (I assume...), seeing that the odds of moving the ball down the field are worse than the odds of USC scoring points off another Weberball, decides to take a knee. Fans boo. USC takes a time out. Fans cheer.

Either there were 50,400 USC fans there today, or we have more idiots who think "Lane Kiffin is coaching the game the right way" in our fanbase than I'd care to admit.

Zing...you really got him there! Well played.

Oh...and before I forget, spazzo was the icing on the cake.

you stayed til the end, good for you. i don't enjoy watching subpar football, get over it. i've had season tix for 10 years. i'm hardly bandwagon. insulting those of us who choose to leave early is juvenile and kind of embarrassing tbh.

Maybe they were sick of seeing the same play the entire game?

We'll have as good a program as we demand.
I choose to buy my tickets, spend my money, and cheer like crazy for my team.
When they play poorly, I complain and demand better.
I would like to think my approach is more constructive than saying "I'll support them when they are good."
A college football team needs support. Both financial and in the stands. There is no billionaire owner behind the scenes controlling the money and deciding to be the Yankees or the Pirates.

Can we please have more penny-ante bickering on these boards. These love affairs with each other are terribly boring. :banghead:

BEAT THE TRAFFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!BEAT THE TRAFFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BEAT THE TRAFFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There you go with Holier than thou. Maybe someday I can grow up and be the fan and man you are. Whatever dude.

i'd say it's a pretty common way of voicing your disappointment.

Or just a way to prove that you are a bandwagon jumper.

Sell your tickets, watch from home next time. No brutal commute, no worries you might get caught in traffic, and you can even turn off the tv whenever you want. Really this sounds like the best choice for you. I highly recommend it for your sanity and the enjoyment of the people sitting around you...

Frankly, if it causes you so much emotional pain and inner conflict maybe you will grow up and realize that being a season ticket owner isn't for you. You sound like a couch man to me. Save your self time, money and pain...

When Brewster decided to surrender by punting on 4th and 5 down 3 scores with seven minutes left, there was nothing wrong with leaving. Fans had any right at that point to do what they wanted. The coach gave up, so go home if you wish.

You should really contact the Gopher athletic department with that suggestion. Maybe it could be their new advertising campaign:

"Gopher Football, it might just not be for you."

"Thinking about going to a Gopher Football game? Well, you should know a few things: the team is pretty bad, and likely to remain so for the next few years at least. The commute is no dream either. So if you're not one of the few and the proud that will commit to staying to the bitter end (and believe us when we say BITTER), we think you might just want to stay home and consider another way to spend your Saturday. That way the TRUE fans will have more leg room (unless of course your tickets get snatched up by Iowans)"
