His first big test....this recruiting class...is currently ranked fifth in the Big Ten according to Rivals. My goodness.

Sixth (counting Nebraska). 38th in nation as has been noted elsewhere. If it holds somewhere around there that's a good class in a transition year.
 


Having a goal of being a top 40 recruiting class is pretty impressive to start with. If you have a coaching staff with the track level of coaching up talent, then a top 40 class is probably going to go over very well. Wisconsin and Iowa historically have never had great recruiting classes compared to many top programs, but they routinely land top 40 classes and coach them up. It is the way Minnesota is going to have to go if they want to be a high level program imho.
