but i can't say due to ongoing discussions, yes there has already been discussions with this person and yes he is interested and yes you all would be very happy to have him as a coach. Cross your fingers!
 







I heard a rumor today too. Brooke Burke is to beccome coach. She doesn't have a lot of experience, but she'll seduce us a hell of a class!@ I can't wait...
 


I expect to be ridiculed as that is the nature of our fans, we are breed that is used to bad news and don't believe good news until it slaps us in the face. I was visited in my suite by a very prominant member of the university today and was led to believe that this person is very interested in our university. That is essentially rehashing my previous post, but I can so no more.

I just hope you are right in that I'll be very happy with him.

Also, even if everyone here believed you based solely on your word, you didn't tell us anything except 'someone wants to come here' and 'I like him.' For all I know, you think we'd be thrilled with Lou Holtz, Trestman, or Mason. I could have told you that someone is very interested in the job, and it would make me very happy if he got it. That's been the case for at least 15 years straight now, and will continue to be the case until I retire from coaching (which will will likely happen sometime long after I start coaching).

If you actually do know something and are trying to share that information, kudos. But so far you haven't gotten the message out.

It has nothing to do with being a tough crowd or angry, but when someone makes a vague post like Crazy Joe did, what do you expect us to do? Buy it hook, line and sinker.

I don't know Crazy Joe from a hole in the wall, so when he posts a vague statement about who the U is considering as a coach, on an anonymous message board, I and a lot of other posters are going to be very SKEPTICAL (note: not angry but SKEPTICAL, there is a difference). If Crazy Joe had more specifics that could be verified then the comment would not be met with such ridicule. I would have less respect for GHers if they just bought Crazy Joe's statement without considering it may be full of hogwash.

I have no problem with people posting rumors. This is the internet for pete sake's.

But this isn't even a rumor.

It's an anonymous person telling other anonymous people they THINK they know something other people don't, but they won't say what they know.

If you want to rumor-monger, fine: Name the name.

Otherwise I honestly can't imagine why you would bother with this post, other than that you're trying to make some lame joke a la Dr. Don.

Gee, I didn't know the English department had a suite at TCF. There are 3 possible explanations to your post

  1. You're full of pooh
  2. You like to see lots of responses to posts on stuff you make up
  3. You hang out with a blowhard regent or booster

Particularly reason #3. If this search is done properly, the only "prominant" member of our University who should know the name of the coach before its announced is Prexy B. And considering that Brewster was S-canned less than a week ago, the search probably hasn't progressed past the point of identifying who we should be interested in, let alone who's interested in us. Just vetting candidates will probably take the rest of this month.

I would agree with this as a fair assessment, but do not underestimate recruiting. I will say again that recruiting Minnesota kids is paramount and that is your lifeline. You have to build bridges with the high school coaches and you have to have a good walk on program that develops the kids. Still, you have to be able to recruit quality, too. A guy like Lawrence Maroney will simply be able to make plays that DeLeon Eskridge can't and that is nothing against Eskridge - he had a good game today. If Maroney catches that screen pass instead of Bennett today, he probably houses it instead of being tripped up at the 40 yard line. THAT is the difference in a 4 star and a 2-3 star. Still, I would rather have a coach that can create a system and develop the talent than one who is just in it for recruiting and can't develop the kids. The bottom line is you have to have both!!!

Please let it be Bellotti (It can't be Harbaugh if he's already been contacted. Harbaugh is still my top choice, but Bellotti is a close second.

Really???????? who the hell cares about what happens in the f'ing suite??? thats the problem with the University run by a bunch of money bags that don't know *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# about football!!!
