So what Bowl would be most advantageous to help recruiting and have a nice payoff off outside tge Rose Bowl?

Wishing the Gophers the best

TALON

Minnesota: Awaits the Dec. 8 announcement of the bowl assignments. The Rose Bowl remains a possibility, but tBadgers might grab that one and relegate the Gophers to either the Citrus Bowl or the Outback Bowl, both of which are also Jan. 1.

Thanks for checking back in, Talon. You were a big part of the fun this year on GH. We've got a whole other thread going on bowl game speculation here: https://www.forums.gopherhole.com/b...wl-game-speculation.93823/page-3#post-1857145

The Citrus Bowl is the next highest for the B1G after the Rose, so that would obviously be nice. Minnesota played there in 2014 and it was a blast. PSU was there last year, so if Wisconsin goes to the Rose Bowl, it's likely MN gets picked for the Citrus. Most of the money around here is on PSU to the Rose though, which puts Wisconsin in the Citrus and MN in the Outback. The B1G splits all the bowl game proceeds among qualifying schools, so it's not a huge boost the coffers either way.

If the skunks get throttled by Ohio ST like hope they do. Do they still get to the rose bowl automatically??

Any New Years 6 but we don’t qualify now I think. Outback/citrus/gator bowl same thing now basically we’ll get. Jan 1 game we want

Doesn't the Rose Bowl pick the next highest rated team? If Wiscy loses, it will be Penn State. If Wiscy wins, it will be interesting to see who goes to the CFP.

The Rose Bowl will pick next highest rated, or committee will choose based on other factors if the next highest Big Ten teams are clumped in the rankings. Meaning if us, Wisconsin, and Penn State are all within a rank or two. They’ll potentially go with the best “story”. They say things like how long it’s been since last attended, how good for publicity, how good fan base will travel, etc. will all be factors in this scenario.
So best case for the Gophers is that we land around #13, PSU around #11 and Wisconsin (after a loss to OSU) around #10. Then they’d look at the factors like whose fan base will travel best. Which would probably be us (tens of thousands that have been waiting for decades). Which team has the best story. Probably us (team restoring itself to glory somewhat quickly under Fleck after decades of mediocrity). Which team is best for publicity. Probably us (Casey O’Brien story, haven’t been in Rose Bowl since ‘62, tons of ‘firsts’, not only that but we’ve had a TON of national attention this season and created a lot of stir and excitement on a national scale). Which teams have been here latest, Wisconsin and Penn State not nearly as long ago as us obviously. Which team is on the longest Rose Bowl drought. Definitely us.

Sorry about not looking for the Gophers best chance at a bowl and their tie ins. I have had trouble signing in the last 3 weeks and just started this post without scanning your board first. I see that your big hopes ore on the Rose Boal and I hope you Minnesota fans get it!!!!!

Still, the tie in bowls for the B10 look good. A win against ANY of those SEC teams would look good for the Gophers, raise your final ratings, hopefully give Minnesota a good base fore recruiting, Show off your great coaching staff and give you a high ranking for 2020 so the Gophers dont have to battle up outside of the top 10!!!!!

Here's what I'm seeing:
- CollegeFootballNews:
Citrus vs Auburn
CBS Sports: Outback vs Florida
ESPN (Bonagura): Outback vs. Tennessee
ESPN (Schlabach): Outback vs Tennessee
247Sports: Citrus vs. Auburn
SportingNews: Outback vs Auburn
USA Today: Outback vs Texas A&M
Of these, Tennessee is obviously the most win-able, but the least marquee. TAMU would be pretty even competition IMO. Florida or Auburn would be stiff competition.

Then again the Ark. State game screwed our chances.

Camellia Bowl
Dec. 21, ESPN at 5:30 p.m. ET
Tie-In: MAC vs. Sun Belt
Projection: Kent State vs. Georgia Southern
GSU went to that bowl 2 times against the MAC and are 2-0
Or

Cure Bowl, Orlando (2:30 p.m. ET, CBSSN)

American vs. Sun Belt
UCF vs. Georgia State
GSU beat the $h!t out of Georgia State last week & has a better record! Why Gag State????

OR

Mobile Alabama Bowl (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN)

MAC vs. Sun Belt
Toledo vs. Georgia Southern

TALON - I wouldn't mind traveling to Mobile or Orlando. They want GSU at the Camellia because most of our Alumni are in Atlanta. I would love to go to the Cure Bowl and play UCF or another AAC team even though GSU is a very inconsistent team and the odds would be aganst GSU!

Come on Gopher Fans I need a little pep talk. If GSU doesn't win this bowl lthen our HC and staff will only have 1 year to improve. And if GSU only has a 5 win season next year the another coaching change will happen. I wouldn't mind going back to the Flex option, but with our AD I can see him picking an all out passing attack with players that are not meant for that! That means another 3 years of mediocracy.

I pulled for the Gophers to beat the 2 teams that played you before the Gophers played GSU and evey team after the GSU game & their were 2 reasons.

!. Selfish- If you had won your first 2 games, in which you did, & GSU won against the gophe game & the Gophers had won out then GSU would have moved up in the rankings.

(2) After the the GSU/Gophers game I had great respect for your posters and team. You were much better hosts with the exception of the P5 OSU Beaver board (GSU41-OSU 48).

Will any Gopher help me find peace with a bowl win and at least a chance at recruiting?

Believe me when I say thats it's ok that you can't pull for Talons GSU team in a bowl, no matter how low the bowl is.

Just remember that TALON was here pulling for the Gophers in every game except for one. I dont know of any opponent that did so.

I hope you win your bowl,, are ranked high next year and have a great recruiting season!!!!

I'll make my next post when you win your Bowl
