Hummel

Most of the Paint Crew went to the Purdue Airport to welcome the team back about an hour ago, talked to the players and said that Rob looked "happy and upbeat". Hopefully he knows something we don't.

Please Robbie :(

I really hope he's okay! Purdue has a great team that could go a long way in the tournament. Hummel's an integral part of the lineup though... Best Wishes ... Hopefully he just sprained his knee. If that's the case, he'll be back soon. I sprained my knee badly two years ago and it hurt like a motherf*****. See: Paul Pierce. He sprained his knee in the NBA Finals against the Lakers and came back in the same period! Good Luck Robbie!

I just got back from the airport as well welcoming the team back and if anyone cares. Hummel was able to put a little weight on the leg which I think is a good sign. Sounds like a MRI tomorrow and we should know more then. Personally I think if he can go against MSU he has to try then after that he really should need to play until Saturday of the BTT. After MSU Purdue is at home vs Indiana and at Penn State. If that is the case he should have plenty of time to heal, if it isn't terrible.

I don't know if there is a medical professional on the board but if there is can you possibly give us a reasonable guess of what the injury could be.

Depends on the injury of course, but unless Rob is very near 100% I wouldn't want him playing Sunday. We have a shot without him, and we don't need to risk him being injured further.

The Final Four is the real goal. We can still win a share of the title even if we lose to MSU.

That cheer was probably for the turnover, and I am pretty sure the student section clapped when he walked off just like everyone else.

Wait, I know they did because I was in it. Were you?

I was in the student section as well, and there was definitely some lingering cheering for Hummel being down. There was someone at the front of the section trying to persuade people NOT to clap when Hummel was walking off.

Small minority though, and there are huge d-bags in every fanbase, ours just all happen to be together at the front of the Barnyard. Just don't paint us all with the same brush.

I hope Hummel gets back out there as good as new. I am excited for Purdue to represent the B10 in the F4 this year!! I hate Bucky and I am so sick of Sparty. Boiler Up!! (whatever that actually means, lol)

What does this mean?? I know Minnesota nice and all.... but their chances at the FF are as good as ours are of just making the tournament now.

first of all, I just said I support them more than other B10 schools making it to the FF. second and more importantly, I actually don't think its unreasonable at all! they are a solid team with experience who has struggled this season but has righted the ship in time for the post-season. the only Tourney trait they are missing is star power, but hopefully their team attitude makes up for that.

GHF ???

Huh?

The Boilers are in the #1 seed discussions.

We are in the "within the sight of the lower edge of the bubble" discussions.

Obviously any #1 or #2 seed has serious final four possibilities.

Our hopes for an NCAA bid are sadly, not serious, IMHO.

I would have rather had no expectations this year and not made the tournament than the heartbreak that has been the last 24 hours.

Torn ACL, he is done. There will be an announcement soon.

sorry Boilers

that is sh*t news :( sorry Purdue fans. any hope out there for finishing strong w/out him and still wiping the floor w/ your NCAA competition??

why does this crap never happen to Sparty?????

Nothing on the Rivals board is ever rational, first of all. But what DJ said pissed a lot of people off, and emotions were already in disarray last night. I don't get why that's a big deal.

I'm really sorry to see Hummel go down. Two injury plagued years in a row is awfully tough to bounce back from but here's hoping he can get back %100 for his senior year.

This sucks even worse. Purdue is the team (after the Gophers) I'd like to see go all the way. So we lost a heartbreaker essentially sealing our fate, and now their bes player is out and they will probably be lucky to make it any farther than the Sweet 16.

Sorry to hear about Robby Hummel's injury. Hope he can come back healthy next year.

At least Purdue got Robby most of year to get them to a nice spot in NCAAs. We suffered a worse fate having two of our best players miss entire season and our top guard miss a critical stretch of the Big Ten season.

This sucks big time. Never like to see this happen. Purdue fans, hang in there.

Going to having a potential top25 team to nothing is bad. Going from having a potential home-state Final Four to team to nothing is worse.

You weren't an english major at Purdue, were you?...

What's the issue, my reading comprehension or my grammar? Or did I miss something?

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Its great. Being a Minnesota sports fan you think you are just naturally prepared for it but this is the absolut $h!tiest feeling in the world. Know all this great stuff is right in front of you everything is going you way then to have it all taken away without any notice and knowing there is nothing you can do about it, because you can't control it. It simply sucks, really really sucks.

And I don't sound like an ass but Gopherfish the Al Nolen issue is something that you can control, you can choose to study and do the work to pass classes or not, the Royce White is a bit of both he shouldn't have put himself in those possitions but the UofM Police need to do a better job of timely investigation.

I feel your pain, but I thought Gophers were a potential final 4 team heading into season and we won't get to NCAAs. Regardless of the reasons, I am very disappointed three of our most talented players were suspended. At least Purdue will still get nice seed in Tourney and still has everyone but Hummel.

You're right, I'm just feeling particularly terrible right now. Excuse my emo-ness.

Terrible news. FWIW, you have a good team regardless, and I will be cheering for you guys in just about any match-up in the future. You can still make the Final Four, but it will take a few extra good bounces. Congrats on your victory at the Barn, even though it was tough to swallow, including seeing Hummel injured.
