HUGE Notre Dame rumor - Possible vacation of entire 2012 season

Kind of makes the whole Clem-Ganglehoff thing pale in comparison. FYI, ESPN once rated that as one of the worst academic scandals of all time.

Report: Notre Dame Could Have Wins From Last 4 Years Vacated, Up To 22 Players Involved

Would rather see them lose scholarships and be under sanctions, than just allow them to self-punish and simply vacate wins. That is getting off too easy, imo. Don't care about their 2012 season record/stats in this argument. Just vacating that, and a few other seasons, doesn't do it for me.

Should be both. Same for UNC. Hopefully the NCAA grows a pair like they apparently had back in the 90's when they went after Clem and Company.

This is a similar path that U$C took, although the impermissible benefits were much different. They self-reported, and self punished and hoped it would be enough to satisfy the NCAA. It wasn't. I hope the NCAA comes in and pounds them down.

Ban them from bowl games for about 4 years and take multiple scholarships.

I hope the NCAA comes in and pounds them down.

Unfortunately the NCAA sleeps in the same bed as ND. As a result, the NCAA will do some light spanking under the blankets and ND will get away with slapping themselves on the wrist. The good news is that there is no way the B1G will consider them for membership anytime soon.

Go Gophers!

I don't think Notre Dame is the only school that the NCAA is in love with. There are plenty of examples of other "marquee" schools getting away with things others didn't.

And that is one of the reasons why the NCAA is being pushed around all over the place by the courts, the five major money making conferences in football and mens hoops, the media and by the average sports fan/freak on message boards just like this one, as well as the players' demands for a piece of the pie. You dis the NCAA. Other posters here dis the NCAA. I dis the NCAA. That organization is pretty well shot to hell. It has become just another object of total disrespect. It will let the money making and most financially powerful teams and conferences have what ever they want and do what ever they will. There may be some token penalty phase...maybe a few scholarships removed and a few sanctions imposed. But make no mistake: the NCAA is a mere shadow of it's former self. The strongest conferences and the most iconic football and men's hoops programs will always fare the best in any type of dealings with this now impotent NCAA judge, jury and executioner. Basically the NCAA has mortally wounded itself with all of lt's inconsistency of governance AND uneven and unequal punishments during it's long reign of terror. It no longer works. It must be dismantled, laid to rest and abandoned. It is time for the prexys of the great university and college associations to form a newer...a better...a much stronger organization to govern this vast assemblage of fans for Game Day Saturdays...Final Fours...and National Championship play-offs. This nation depends on these NCAA-type functions to provide the teams and the heroes to cheer for, have social interactions around and to bet on.

You can stick a fork in this old NCAA Organization. Start all over. Maybe It will work better this time...at least for a little while.
