How will Mitch Leidner do in his final season?

When Hackenberg is getting sacked 38 times, I can't really fault Mitch for getting thrown down 16 times. Ya, 1 or 2 less fumbles lost would be nice too.

This is interesting. My perception was that we were really bad pass blockers yet it came out that Claeys thought there was to much focus on pass blocking. Then Penn State hires our OL coach to improve pass blocking.

Mitch will have a good year. I hope it's good enough to get Green or Croft in for some fourth quarter duty.

"I think Bart Miller and the two Juco newcomers up front will pretty much decide what kind of season Mitch has."

Bart has already decided. Mitch will be the meanest badest QB in the BIG.

I say Mitch has a great season and brings us a J1 Bowl game.

I was always hard on Mitch, but after Kill resigned, Mitch was a lot more consistent. I truly believe Kill/Limegrover/Zeb didn't really trust Mitch that much, and thus called safe games. He proved towards the end of the season, after Claeys took over, that he is pretty good. I trust that Claeys and Johnson will put him in the best possible situations this year, and his game will improve. I am expecting a big year from him!

The bolded part is absolutely true. ML7 was inconsistent so Kill/Limey called a game to stay away from a lot of the stuff he was inconsistent at. Claeys didn't really "open things up" when he took over, but clearly let ML7 attempt more. It worked for the most part and I expect a bigger shift in that direction this year.
