Minnesota will win its three noncoference games, defeat Purdue and Northwestern on the road and win one or two of their four Big 10 homes games--probably Illinois and maybe Nebraska.
 

Michigan could be a toss up and Iowa will be a win.
 

I agree with your non-conf prediction.

I see no reason we can't beat Mich, Purdue, Illinois, or NW (not that we WILL win them all, but I think we will beat 2 of them)

There will be an artist commissioned to start working on the Jerry Kill statue because he is going to beat WI and IA.

They have 4 non-conference games. I think 3-1 in non-conference and 3-5 or 4-4 in the conference.

Too early to tell. I usually wait till about halftime of each game. Great to see the optimism!
 


I haven't seen a practice, Spring game, or anything to predict anything. We should just come back to these in August.

I've been to multiple practices under Mason, Brewster and will do the same with Kill. I'm sure it will take one practice to tell if we are in a better place.
 



I think they win 4 games next season. The coaching transitions are always tough years.

Could give us anywhere from 3-6 wins. Anything above that is by the grace of the almighty himself.

6. We went 2-6 in the BT last year, With all our D returning, nice but inexperienced group of offensive players, and lots of teams losing more starters than we are I'm sure sure how we don't improve upon last year's BT slate by a game?
 


I have a feeling we will not get blown out in one game this year.

Last year people ripped on the optimism of posters who had the same type of prediction. Turns out they were right. So how about you respect the opinion of other posters, eh?:rolleyes:

Of course, I would love to see us do better.

The 1st year of our previous 3 coaches...
Brewster (2007): 1-11 (0-8)
Mason (1997): 3-9 (1-7)
Wacker (1992):2-9 (2-6)

if you take their combined winning % and apply it to a 12-game season, it would equate to:
2-10 (1-7).

This isn't meant to sound defeatist or apologist, but anything better will be an improvement. I'll be judging Kill by year 3, 4 and 5 - not so much by year 1.
 

Going back to Warmath's hire, two coaches did better in their first year then their predecessor did in his last, three did the same, and three had worse records.

Warmath Before, 4-4-1, first year 7-2
Stoll Before 4-7, first year 4-7
Salem Before 4-7, first year 3-5-1
Holtz Before 1-10, first year 4-7
Gutekunst Before 6-5, first year 6-5
Mason Before 4-7, first year 3-9
Brewster Before 6-6, first year 1-10

Warmath improved the team by 2.5 wins in his first year, Holtz by 3 wins. Going back all the way to the beginning of Gophers football, first year coaches generally haven't made dramatic improvements in their first year. When Williams took over in 1900, the Gophers went from 6-3-2 and 0-3 in the Big Ten to 10-0-2 and 3-0-1 in the Big Ten in his first year. We might win 6 games in 2011. We might not. But making the biggest first-year improvement in Gophers history shouldn't be seen as some minimal standard.

I think 7-5 is reasonable. It's a very tough schedule but not impossible. Contrary to what everyone thinks, this team is not an overhaul rebuild. There are a lot of very good football players on this team who are very used to changing styles of play and schemes. I think they'll have a good transition to Kill's style of football and will be surprising. I give us one more year to be competitive with Wisconsin and become a threat to the B1G.

I've got 5-7 or 6-6. Not confident in our ability yet to go into Evanston or Ann Arbor and get a win. That Purdue game is probably a big one.
