How many wins are left????

There are a lot of delirious people in here....We are not good, and now that we added the Pac 10 teams we will be perennial bottom feeders. The only reason they stay in the Big 10 is to get TV money. It defiantly not because we will ever have shot winning in the Big 10
Fully agree that winning the Big Ten in football will be next to impossible with the way the top talent in college football is consolidated at a handful of schools some of whom are in the Big Ten.

But doesn't mean we are going to be relegated to bottom feeder status. We can and should be able to compete with the vast majority of the conference on a year to year basis.

It will be tough/nearly impossible to crack the Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Oregon, Penn State tier.....but that still leaves 12 teams we should realistically be able to compete with. Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana, Rutgers, UCLA, Washington, Nebraska, Michigan State and Maryland.

But hey....if our being delirious and thinking we can compete bothers you so much don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It's a pretty short thread.....I went back to the top.....don't see anyone saying the game is a pick em against USC. A few people (myself included) saying there is a chance we spring the upset but that is not the same as saying the game is a pick em which would imply that it could easily go to either team.

For us to beat USC we will have to play perfect and get some bounces to go our way. It could happen but it won't be easy. In spite of the long odds I think it is still worth showing up and giving it a shot.

I don't want to get anyone pounded for a positive view but there is verbatim post just a few up that says, "I'd actually put USC in your pick 'em group."

There is also a lot of people saying it wouldn't be a surprise to beat USC because of XYZ. It should be a huge surprise if we beat USC given our historic futility against good teams, and our seasonal futility against terrible offenses.

Would love to see it happen as it would greatly increase the possibility of bowl eligibility.

Read post #16.

Care to quote them? I can’t find those words

One guy did. The S implies more than one

Person has said, people haven’t
Ok my bad. My god. I responded to someone saying no one is saying that.

I see zero. However, they will probably win one they shouldn't and lose one they shouldn't. I say 1.

UCLA and Maryland. Won't know about Wisconsin until the final weeks of the season. Rutgers looks too tough - a good measure of their strength will be how they do in Lincoln Saturday.

Rutgers may never score another point

There is one game I am highly confident in a win (UCLA) (80%)
One game I would be shocked by a win (Penn state) (10%)
One game where I would pick a loss but not surprised by a win (USC) (25%)
And four games I would consider close to pick Ems (Wisconsin, Maryland, Rutgers, Illinois) (50%)

I don’t remember my stats very well but I think that means my expected wins are between 3-4 but closer to 3.

5-7 or 6-6 finish I would guess
Now:
There is one game I’m highly confident in a win UCLA (80%)
One game where I would be surprised by a win Penn State (20%)
4 pick ems

I would now predict 6-6

6-6 wouldn't shock me....but if the team that showed up for the 4th quarter against Michigan and all 4 quarters tonight against USC keeps coming back we have a great shot of finishing with a better record than that.

Going to be fun to see how it all plays out.

Would love it.
Everyone is so close.
Like literally think 3-16 in the big ten are less than 10 plays different from each other

Gophers now 1-3 in close games.
Probably going to play 4-5 more close games. Gotta go 3-2 or 4-1 in those close games

Yep, feels like it is going to be one of those years where we are sweating the result right down to the end.....hopefully the majority go the way they did tonight as opposed to the other way.

I've said this before, but I feel like a lot of people fail to consider that we're not the only team that has to adjust to the new conference. This season will continue to be unpredictable and we might win another one we're counting ourselves out of or lose one or two that we're labeling as almost certain wins. And the same goes for every other team. We could still hit 8 wins, especially if we keep playing like we did tonight. We could also end up with 5 wins.

Excited to be heading to the Rose Bowl next Saturday.

I was very curious to see how Rutgers and Indiana played today. One might be a pretender and the other looks legit.
Indiana is legit 6-9 win team

If they’re a threat in the conference won’t be known until 10/19 Nebraska game?
10/26 Washington

Getting bowl eligible will still be a tall order. Tell me I’m wrong.

IF the Gophers play as they did in the 2nd half of the Michigan game, and the entire USC game, I think we have 5 toss-up games out if the final 6. I think we can take 4. Record ends up 7-5. Might make it to 8-4. If we don’t stay at the Mich/USC level of play we might not make a bowl. Injuries might be a factor going forward. We don’t have a big margin for error. But I am feeling a lot better than I did about the season than I did after the Iowa implosion—beat down.
