How Good Will Tori Oehrlein be?

It has been a dozen years since we were in the AAU scene, but we noticed a lot more focus on “what you can do offensively”, rather than giving players credit for a very good defense. We had always taught our daughter the philosophy of the best offense is a good defense, and she definitely excelled in defense. She played at the top for AAU, but didn’t get noticed as much as some of the girls who were known for their scoring. Fortunately for her, Coach P recognized her defensive skills and pushed her to develop them even further.

I think that Tori O. is going to be a wonderful player for the Gophers. She may not see a lot of time as a freshman - it depends on how quickly l the coaches develop her. I don’t think she will come in fully ready to play, because the adjustment will not be just in competition level. It will also be adjusting from a team where she is the clear star in a small school environment in Northern Minnesota, joining a team where everybody is really good. I think a lot of freshman experience that, as well as players using the portal to go up a level. It’s an adjustment, but I’m positive that this coaching staff will be able to get her through it. The future is bright….
