Great draw. Play hard and hopefully the refs let us play and don't call quick fouls on Trevor. If Trevor plays 32 plus minutes we win for sure.

Yeah, depending on our substitutions, we have a great shot. On to the sweet 16!

Feels good to let my excitement fuel optimism. Go Gophers!

Being no fan of Tubby this year, I'm stoked to beat UCLA (and glad the Badgers lost to OSU)!

Beating UCLA is definitely within reality, but beating UCLA and than beating... Florida? Come back down to earth son!

You do realize we just beat a better Indiana team, right? Highly unlikely but could happen. We have beaten some good teams this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lose to UCLA by 20 and I wouldn't be surprised if we go to the S16.

74 percent of people on espn have the Gophers winning.

I agree. It just depends on which Gopher team gets off the plane.

I am surprised at the results of this poll, I picked UCLA and obviously hope I am wrong. I think this is a good draw for the Gophers, but I have seen exactly one game since early/mid January where I thought this team played up to its potential. I don't know if they can (or even want to) flip some sort of switch and start playing good ball again.

I picked the Gophers.

I always try to be as objective as possible. But today, with the excitement of the selection show, I've been caught with a case of homerism.

UCLA point guard broke his foot in the PAC 12 tournament (semi-finals). The dance is all about guard play. I think we have the advantage and should win this game for our first NCAA tourney win in years.

Any and all games are about guard play. See past where Hoffarber had to be playing point sans Nolen.

I'd be very surprised and pretty close to shocked if the Gophers make the S16.

I think the Gophers have a great chance to go to the Sweet 16. The Gophers offense doesn't fit in with B1G style of play, so I think they should be able to get out and run and hopefully beat a few non-conference opponents. Austin Hollins can shut down Shabazz, and we have a huge advantage in the post.

Shabazz is the real deal, will definitely be an NBA lottery pick, and should end up with 20+ points. No one on the Gophers is going to shut him down. I still voted for the Gophers because UCLA isn't used to Big Ten style defense. They want to get up and down the court which suits us much better than getting in half court sets for an entire game.

Gophers beat UCLA...and the Tubby bashers go back into hiding...all is good!!

Adams is not the PG for them. Drew is...They have a better shooting team but we have an edge in rebounding and defense. We just need to make some shots and get the transition game going.

I expect this game to be a 10+ point win, either way, but I'll vote Gophers.

Since this game is not being played at Williams Arena, I think UCLA prevails.

Funny how a lot of MN Gopher fans have changed their tune about the team when nothing has changed since losing their last 3 games in embarrassing fashion.

Oh well, hope the B1G does well.

He's not point guard, but he's still a guard averaging 15 a game. They have no rebounding at all. Great match-up for the Gophers.

A.) It's a good draw for us.

B.) Hope springs eternal.

I do not think many of us are delusional enough to think we're going to make a very deep run, but we could. I was hoping for an 11 seed because you avoid a 1/2 seed for at least two rounds.

Of any reasonable pre-selection scenario, I think this was the best possible first round draw for the Gophers - injury, style of play, lack of rebounding, etc.

i really like this match up. gophers should crush ucla on the glass and use that to get some easy buckets off put backs. i feel a gopher win coming as long as ucla doesn't shoot lights out from the perimeter!!

they won't go back in hiding unless we beat Florida. then they will come back out again if we lose even in the Elite 8 by big margin. they are who they are

Who the bleep knows what this team is going to do? What concerns me is the attitude of the team. At the press conference following the selection show, the players looked almost gloomy at the prospect of playing in the NCAA tournament. Maybe I'm wrong - but I have a suspicion that the psyche of this team is broken, and there isn't enough superglue in MN to put it back together.

Bottom line- I would not be surprised if the Gophs beat UCLA - but I would also not be surprised if they lost by 30 points. This team has some fundamental weaknesses - and those kinds of things don't fix themselves.

So, does that make you a pessimistic optimist, or an optimistic pessimist?
