Hole Poll: What Grade Would You Give Leidner In His First Real Game Action?

b... his game wasn't flawless to deserve the A... But I saw more promise with him leading the team than Nelson

Probably an A without the fumble on the goal line, but I'd have to go with a B.

He looked good. Certainly needs to be better at keeping his eyes down the field, but that's not something to worry about too much given complete lack of experience.

Leidner gets a 'B' in my book because of the red zone fumble with the game still very much in question.

Not trying to take anything away from Leidner, but this talk of "more promise than Nelson" is premature in my opinion. Leidner looked to be playing with a different playbook than the staff let Nelson play with early in the game.

I think if given the opportunity to open things up, we'll find out a lot more about the strength of this offense with Nelson at the helm.

nelson has had 8 starts to get the play book open... outside of the purdue game last year he has done squat... with the playbook mitch was given he showed me more

B is a downgrade of his performance today, so without A-/B+ available, he deserves an A.

Oh, is Nelson calling the plays?

Or are you saying he doesn't know the play book as well as Leidner?

B. The fumble dropped him. Not to say he had an A locked up if he didn't fumble there, but certainly looked great outside of that fumble.

RUnning wise he looks very similar to Nelson; however, he looks so much more comfortable passing the ball.

it was in response to you post... I don't care what the playbook is or what plays are called... mitch executed the plays given him with more confidence and poise than nelson has... I haven't said mitch deserves the starting job after today.. that would premature imo... he did look more poised and in control.. that is where my "more promise with him" comment came from..

I gave him an A but the neat thing is our depth and the development of players. When was the last time a Gopher team lost a key player and his replacement did not skip a beat and if anything played better. Before Kill hardly ever. Under Kill last week at running back. Before Kill maybe under well before my time and i have been a fan for 40 years.

Nelson will be a solid QB for us over the next 3 years and so will Mitch. My guess is so will be the next man up if needed. These boys can coach.

I really wouldn't call Nelson a key piece yet. He obvious has potential but right now he isn't very good.

Yeah, the QB is not key...
You probably don't have potential and right now you aren't very smart.

"key player" usually infers the best players on the team and as of right now Nelson isn't close to being that guy. Of course the QB is the most important position on the field but that doesn't mean that B. Weeden is a key player for the Browns.

Ur not very smurt.
