Pshh. I'm no hippie myself, but hey, hippies are among my oldest friends. And I say, I don't think some hick hogeye from Iowa city gets to say who's a real American!

Iowa's 'communists', 'hippies', are no match for Ricky Stanzi, American Patriot

"I don't know how other colleges are, but when you walk around here, you've got people ... you’ve got guys walking around in dresses and just these hippies," Stanzi said. "They're doing nothing. There's the Ped Mall area down there, right in the middle. Those people are going nowhere. Those people are the people who don't like America.

"They always find something wrong with [America]. They're the problem. They're the people who need to change and figure it out. They need to get it together and work hard."

What a rube. It's like he's never been to a college campus before. Maybe he should have considered Oral Roberts, or Bob Jones or uh... BYU.

Anyway, someone needs to alert the hippies. Buy them tickets. Fill the bank. We have a real chance here (to maybe get high and) out-fan the Iowan scum this weekend.

Yep, the Iowa QB sounds like a major rube to me. He's a rube, and the folks he describes are the backbone of America...the real patriots. Yesirree!

Hard work... criticizing others who are different than you.
Take responsibility... for pointing out who is Un-American

Value the principles which the McCarthy era gave us.

Arguing who "real" patriots are... fracturing the American ideal.

Free country and all, I just don't hear much griping about hippies and communists anymore. I'm in my late 50s and this interview feels like it came out of a time capsule.

That overall was very funny. I hate dirty hippies as much as the next guy, but Ricky Stanzi calling them out is just rediculous. Isn't this the guy with the joke of an academic schedule? I hope he changes the world with his interdisciplinary degree.

There will be at least one communist in the stadium routing against Stanzi and Iowa this weekend.

You really think some hippies in college are collecting a lot of welfare money? I'm guessing you aren't exactly in tune with how the welfare system works in this country. Of course they aren't. In fact, they are hurting absolutely nobody. They are simply different than Ricky Stanzi and he decided to go out of his way to rip on these people. My guess is that is why Stanzi is being called an "a-hole" by some on this board.

The guy sounds like he is one PBR from going John Rocker on all of us.

Why do you hate freedom? People should wear whatever they want. Hippies don't smoke pot all day. They really aren't any more likely to smoke pot than anyone else, lots of people smoke pot, and a whole lot of them wear suits. Why are you under the impression that hippies are on welfare? They have jobs just like anyone else.

The only real reason that people hate hippies is that they were told to. And the reason they were told to was that hippies were cheapskates, they weren't interested in conspicuous consumption or keeping up with the Jonses.
 

I love how people create scenarios to hate people, without any facts that the scenario is true. Where is the proof that these KIDS are smoking dope and receiving welfare. Talk about a paper tiger. I know Ricky Stanzi has been around forever, but is he actually 55 years old. Good thing he wasn't asked about immigration...I think his response would have been close to "dey took ar jubs." What a sad individual. He's too young to be this close minded...they must be really paying him well.

Seriously Stanzi, lighten up. It's COLLEGE. You play football, they get high. Both activities are diversions from the 'real' world.

In fairness to Stanzi, click here , scroll down, and watch the interview. I'm embarrassed for the reporters who keep asking the stupid questions. This current reporter was trying to get Stanzi to elaborate on Chris Meyers' bizarre question and Stanzi's classic response after last year's Orange Bowl. So, the current reporter says, "you know, you probably have classes with communists. What do you think of communists?" Just bizarre. I am sure Stanzi was wondering why in the hell do these reporters continue to ask him these weirdo questions.
