Hey y'all from Blacksburg/Virginia Tech....

i think we've had 8-9 guys declare for the portal since the weekend, no big surprise. i'm sure most of our team will play, but there's always going to be guys who are ready to head off to another program as soon as the regular season is over. i don't know how head coaches, football and basketball, have the ability to deal with it, unless you're at one of the schools with unlimited $$$.
We have had 10 guys go into the portal so far but none were key players. Coaches make crazy money but the roster management piece has to be a nightmare, even for the schools with lots of pay for play money.

I get the feeling that you guys are in a similar boat to us in all of this.

UVa is not a football school and their fans are pretty pompous. I think you'll like us a lot more. In fact, I know you will.
Ah... so UVA is like Michigan, only a little warmer. And yeah, we already like you a lot more than either of them.

Cookout is great if you like a ton of fried food, cheap. Seriously, you can pig out for like $8. Their milkshakes are amazing. Definitely get a milkshake. Bojangles is OK, I think Popeye's chicken is better, definitely spicier. Biscuitville actually does have decent biscuits and biscuit sandwiches. I would check the Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives website for a list of the good places to eat in Charlotte, for like bar-b-que and soul food, fried chicken, etc...Guy Fieri has been to Charlotte a few times and the places he's visited is on the Triple D website.
I can confirm Popeye's is much better than Bojangles. I live in Orlando and used to be a huge Seminole fan when Bobby Bowden was coach and frequented the rivalry games vs Florida and Miami. Popeye's was our goto tailgate meal. The chicken, biscuits and sides are all great.

Welcome Bburg! Looking forward to meeting some Hokies in Charlotte on gameday.

On to important things. We yell "Ski U Mah" that's pronounced "sky you mah" and means "Go Gophers" in a lost Indian language...

The history of the yell and other program history/info is here:

What do Hokies yell when firing up the troops?

I actually like Bojangles better. If anyone visits and wants to eat fast food chicken it's worth a try. And Biscuitville is legit good fast food breakfast.

Well, I will add one thing. You won't have any trouble finding a Bojangles in Charlotte. They are everywhere.

Welcome to Gopherhole. Great matchup that I haven’t witnessed in my lifetime.

I’m kind of impressed that you watched 3 Gopher games, the National standing of the locals must be improving!
Gophers played 3 of the 20 most watched games this season, IIRC. Maybe that was only B1G games. Who knows.

I watched Virginia Tech play Miami this year. It's no consolation to you all, but it made me sick as a fan with no rooting interest to watch ESPN broadcast the dark room at ACC headquarters where the call was made to take a loss off the board for their golden child Miami. We also look back on our season and wonder what-if. Should be fun. It will be fun to watch the Gophers play a new team, and an added bonus that it is a brand I still consider a good football brand. Lot of fond memories watching Beamer-ball in my youth.

Ah shit. I had forgotten that it was the Hokies who had been playing Miami in that game. Was watching that at a bar after a round of golf. Bad call. ACC protecting Miami. Hate that.
