Here we go

The big ten makes it....Ohio State #4.

Good for the conference. I'm disappointed TCU didn't make it. We should move to 8 teams ASAP.

Wow. TCU drops 3 spots after a 55-3 win.

8 teams seems inevitable now. I figured we would get to 8 teams after a while, but it may be sooner than I thought.

What did TCU do to deserve to drop 3 spots?

It isn't a poll though. Can't treat movement like you treat movement in a poll.

5 days ago Florida state, Ohio state, and Baylor all had one fewer top 20 win.
5 days ago Florida state and Ohio state weren't conference champs

What did TCU do to deserve to drop 3 spots?

They played Iowa state while 3 other teams played top 20 opponents.
They didn't win an outright conference championship while 2 of the others did.

Get ready for the Big10 bashing by the Big12 fan base.

Foregone conclusion if it was even close it was going to be OSU, no matter what the selection committee says the #1 criteria is TV ratings and money.

Nothing. But the other three teams improved their resume significantly. TCU did not.

My guess is #3 through #6 were extremely close to the committee.

NCAA will hopefully allow the Big 12 to play a conference championship soon so that this won't happen again to TCU/Baylor, but congratulations to OSU.

I just look at it like this - TCU lost one game, by 3 points to the #5 team in the country. Baylor lost one game, to an unranked team by 14. OSU lost one game, to an unranked team at home by 14. To me, TCU is the best of those three teams and I don't see why Oregon is such a lock.

You're right, I would assume a Big 12 Championship game puts the winner in over Ohio State

I thought that happened already but the Big 12 decided they didn't want the conference championship game. Am I making that up?

Memphis and Cincinnati to Big 12. That conference needs a championship in order to even the playing field... regardless of 4 or 8 team playoff. The process needs uniformity.

Big12 clearly got what was coming to them by not having the championship game. Their whole "we have a clear champion" garbage backfired on them, and they wont want to make that mistake again.

Yesterday during the TCU game I thought they said that the current rules require a conference to have 12 teams to play a championship.

Oregon beat Michigan state as well as 3 other top 25 teams.
Tcu has one.

Unless they waive the requirement to have 12 teams for a conference championship game, the Big 12 would have to expand by two teams. Are there any realistic candidates?

Someone mentioned BYU in another thread. Boise State makes sense from a football standpoint, but academically, they're below the SEC.

I don't see why Oregon is such a lock.

What? Their only loss was to a very good football Arizona team (admittedly at home). And when they got another shot at that team, they went on to smash that team to become deserved champs of a good football conference. That makes them a lock. In my opinion, they would be damn near a lock in a 2 team playoff.
