Here Are the Teams with the Highest RPI Ever to Miss the NCAA Tournament

Assuming the most likely outcomes for today's games, I'd project Minnesota to finish at #35 in the RPI later today. Still a very good RPI ranking, but quite a bit higher than the #24 it was several days ago.

So not 38 right after the Illinois game?

Minnesota's RPI is now into the area where teams do get snubbed...mid 30's. Every year there's one or 2 team that get snubbed in the mid 30's. Let's hold our breath.

That's actually not true, especially with teams from major conferences. Last year every team in the top 40 made it in. It happens but not once or twice every year. Most "snubs" are in the 50-75 range.

Okay, you may be right...I seem to remember Dickie V complaining every year about someone getting snubbed in the 30's.

I heard the head official of the tournament selection committee interviewed around 11 a.m. today on CBS say that due to the absence of upsets, the 37 at-large invitations are essentially set and it was only a question of bracketing at this point. That tells me the Gophers are indeed in.
