Henry Ellenson is really good

Yeah he is. Believe it or not a poster or two on here claimed Pitino would want nothing to do with him.

Wally didn't even play. Doesn't look like he is getting much more time on the court than when he was at Minnesota.

Shrewd move by Wojo. Brings in the older brother to ride pine, nabs Henry, the real prize. He's probably a 1 and done, but well worth it for Wojo.

Yeah the little bro can play ball. Impressive show at Madison today. Marquette has a nice team. Probably a real 'sleeper' in the NCAA Tourney.

Hopefully we'll see the same package deal with the Hurt brothers, except hopefully Micheal will be major contributor here unlike Wally. Mathew is already better than his older brother and likely will be a top 25 recruit for his class

No surprise there. We were lucky to get him off the books.

Suppose little bro says why would I want to play for Marquette, my brother doesn't even play?

it was convenient that Wally had to sit out last year due to transfer rules. If Henry's one and done, I am sure Wally will decide to "focus" on track next season and get an extra scholly for 16 or 17. Well played indeed Wojo

He could have been a Gopher if you know what.

Not really sure that's true(based on feelings every year after freshmen year for Wally). I'm going to let someone else take this trolling comment though.

Potentially Konate as well. Believe his younger brother is pretty highly regarded also.

are you talking about Sagaba? He is in the 2016 class and has signed with west virginia I believe. He is a good player by all accounts, but don't think he is highly regarded as the players coming in for 2016 class for the gophers.

Oh got it. Didn't realize he signed somewhere already. Thanks. Thought he may have been further down the road than that too. Whoops.

All the Gophers had to do was play Wally when he did not deserve it for a couple of years and Henry would be a Gopher right now.

Big 3 last year. Henry this year. All these players that could have been a part of Gopher's community if.......... Instead, we get to see the Gophers lose to SD teams. Oh wait, it is a rebuilding year. Sorry, I forgot how great next year was going to be with the addition of 2 4* players and a couple of high profile transfers.

The only one we had a shot at under Tubby was Henry. If he was in a good spot with any of the Big three he wouldn't have been fired

Do you think that there was any logic behind NT's work? If yes, you are right Tubby had no chance with big 3. I have a feeling that he had a great chance of landing them but we would never know because he wasn't here then.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but it was pretty obvious Tyus wasn't coming here since Okafor had no interest, Reid Travis didn't really give us much consideration until Pitino got here and Rashad Vaughn tried to use the media as a scapegoat for leaving the state. It's not that hard to put feelers out to a recruit to gage the likelihood of a commitment. If any of those guys were a sure thing in the class of 14, He wouldn't have been fired. As for Teague he wasn't fired for performance he resigned due to his conduct, which he deserved, but I think people like to think otherwise to make themselves feel better about an embarrassing situation. Will never know so I guess we can agree to disagree, but the signs point in my favor. After all if these guys loved Tubby so much they could've followed him Lubbock. Not like UNLV has anything on Texas Tech

TT is far from recruiting player in that caliber no matter who the coach is. They are getting there though. The 3* PG they have recruited for the next year seems to be a real deal. After all, Tubby is able to get a PG again.

There is video of Reid Travis saying the hiring of Pitino helped Minnesota's chances and anyone who followed the recruitments of Tyus and Rashad know they weren't coming here regardless. Feel free to believe what you want though. Like they say, ignorance is bliss.

What, in your opinion, makes Minnesota any closer to signing guys of that caliber?

So a guy who has no offers from any other power 5 conference is getting the program closer to being able to recruit 5 star guys?

The kid may end up being a great player, but he is far from being some highly recruited player like a Tyus Jones or even Nate Mason.

IMO we are close to that level with Pitino. I'm not sure we were with Tubby.* Amir Coffey (#45 in 247 composite) Reid Travis (#37 in 247 composite) not that far off indeed.

Edit: In fairness to Tubby: White (#24) Williams (#51)

*at the end of his tenure

If he recruited one during his six years here, he may not be stuck in the tumbleweeds.

He had a couple of good ones in DeVoe Joeseph and Justin Cobbs. He just couldn't keep them on campus.

Nate Mason did really well against those players that had no offers from other schools last month in Puerto Rico. You are right he is far from it. He has a player called Justin Gray. You'll hear from him soon. He got injured last year. He also had zero offers from other schools. Can't even compare him to the wing players that Gophers have these days that I don't even know his name. Oh wait we don't have one.

Not true. Justin gray according to 247 sports (could be wrong you never know) had interest from Virginia and Miami. He also had offers from Stanford, Harvard and a few others.

And do you even english bro? seriously those last 2 sentences made no sense.

Edit: for those who don't want to look up justin gray on sports reference he is averaging 7.3 pts 2.7 rebs and 0.2 ast in 17 minutes per game. Which is actually worse than Fitzgerald did as a freshmen at Texas A&M in similar playing time. Not trying to knock him he looks like he'll be a decent college player and He was a 3 star recruit with an offer from Stanford.
