They would look much better without this. The "M" is notably larger and in combination with the stripe it looks busy. Honestly the Gophers should only wear the chrome gold lids with no stripes and the minimum decals, brands, warnings, etc. on the back that the NCAA will allow.

Didn't even notice.

I will say MGM isn't my favorite combo, but other than that I don't care that much.

I really liked the matte/stripeless maroon helmets that have been shown in some promos. Maybe we'll see it with a different uni combo?
