Hawkeye fans seem to think we're taking them lightly

That Iowa schedule is pretty pathetic. They are beatable. I can see this as a trap game for them. They are going in way over confident against a perceived lesser opponent.

It's naught pathetic if you win them all.

Should be a good game Saturday night. Neither team will trick the other, they will line up and play.

Yes, but....I can almost guarantee you will see a flea flicker of halfback pass from Iowa on Saturday. I swear something of that nature happens every time we play down there....force us to sell out the run, then nail us with some trick play.

Are we taking them lightly? Of course. Minnesota fans know that Iowa fans are a bunch of inbred idiots out walking around. There is not much with which to compete.

Oh, as for the actual football game, played on the field, by players, I have no idea.

Nice account.

Idk why but I have never been more convinced of a gopher victory than this game. I've got a good feeling

Iowa is beatable, that's for sure. I expect the Gophers to give the Hawkeyes their best shot Saturday night.
If Iowa's schedule is as pathetic as you say, then most of their games have been against lesser opponents, right? Minnesota and Nebraska have had disappointing seasons, but they're better than their records indicate. Those games will be tough, but they won't improve Iowa's strength of schedule.

They wonder why Minnesotans hate them. It's really bothering them.

Hint, Hawkeye fans: it's because you live in a plain, flat, ugly little rectangle filled with pigs and alcoholics, but you think it's a real honest-to-goodness state.

If you blindfold me and drive me an hour and a half in any direction from Mankato I couldn't tell you if I was in Minnesota or Iowa. But I understand you think you're funny and original.

Yeah, but Mankato sucks too, everyone knows that the metro area and northern MN are the good parts.:p

I'm sorry you lost your sense of smell.

Who is going in overconfident?

Certainly not the players. Minnesota curb-stomped Iowa last year and I'm sure no one on the Iowa team has forgotten it. You'll hear nothing but praise and respect from Ferentz and the players for Minnesota this week. Ferentz is a Kill admirer and appreciates how he built the program at Minnesota.

Fans? Possibly. But that's what fans do.

If Iowa loses, it won't be because they are overlooking Minnesota as part of a trap game. It will be because Minnesota played better. If Iowa wins against Goldy, I would expect Iowa to be very flat against Purdue the next game. THAT is a trap game, right between two trophy games against rivals Minnesota and Nebraska. But Purdue is bad enough that it likely won't matter how Iowa plays against the Boilers.

Will be a good atmosphere on Saturday night. Weather should cooperate. Fans will be ready for a big rivalry game.

Don't look now, but the Gophers 2016 schedule is just as pathetic.

It's one thing to have a favorable schedule. It's another to take advantage of it. Schools like Iowa and Minnesota need to strike when opportunity is there. Iowa is doing so this year. Will Gophers be in a position to do so next year?

Back on topic, as long as there's not an emotional letdown or more bad injuries(I'm worried about Smith/Brooks) I like the matchup.

I have seen several of iowa's games, they've yet to play well against a good defense. NW being the exception and I think Harbaugh's demolition of them the week before hung on for that one. Since then they've played much better. Not illegal to win games like that, but NW wasn't NW that day.

It's going to come down to weathering the storm in the 1st quarter just like they have the past 2 games, then they just need to play good, solid, and discplined on D while the offense manufactures 21-27 points. I like the jet sweep pass this week from Maye, and possibly the jet sweep counter Maye scored on in the kent state game. That D is going to be keyed up to stop that play, it should be an opportunity to expose them for big gainers.
As long as the same team we've seen the past 2 weeks shows up we win by more than a touchdown.

Ya Crossover games are At Maryland, at Penn State, vs Rutgers. Penn State is obviously never a gimme in Happy valley, but I'll take that slate over at Ohio State and vs Michigan. Non con is also all home games with Oregon State, Colorado State and Indiana state. We have more road games than home games in conference, but it's definitely manageable. Other road games are Nebraska, Wisconsin and Illinois, get Iowa, Northwestern and Purdue at home as well. Not gonna go 12-0 with that schedule, but there's no reason to believe they couldn't win anywhere between 8-10 next year

That was exactly my point, forget the schedules everyone has easier years. Gotta capitalize on it when it's your turn.

Sounds like ISU fans filled your head with a bunch of crap. I live an hour from IC and have yet to hear what you just said. They announced the wrestling match way before Iowa was having a good season as well. Whatever makes you feel better. Carry on.

Edit: Pushed wrong reply when I responded. It was in response to, "My in-laws are from Iowa and they're ISU fans... Iowa fans think they're the reason the Hawks are having a good year."

Pretty sure most anyone could tell the difference between downtown Minneapolis and Estherville, IA.

welcome Speng!

It's bad enough being fat and tired. Throw not being very bright on top of that and I almost feel bad for the guy. Almost.

There's nothing light about hawkeye fans

As I stated in an earlier thread, I am guilty of being a delusional fan. Seasons like this don't happen very often and when they do come together like this, you have to dream big and think "what if?" Delusions start to creep in when your team has a 9-0 record. I don't think the Hawkeyes are the best team in the country, but anything can happen.

This season has just been so unexpected; again, anything can happen. I don't know if this is a great team that can head to the B1G Championship game undefeated - but at this point in the season, it's a possibility. It may get be that it's a late folding team that drops this game to the Gophers and another one on Black Friday to the Huskers and we have to watch as the Badgers go to Indy.

Iowa has looked really good in stretches and very beatable in others. I think it's going to be a great game. But, then again, I thought that last season and the Gophers steamrolled the Hawks.

Most of the Iowa fans I know subscribe to this point of view.

All fans seem to forget that football is an emotional game played with a ball that takes funny bounces. They never learn this.

I like how they are ripping on the prediction thread. Virtually every team message board will be the same way. People will always favor their own team.

Like I said, they ripped our prediction thread because so many are taking the Gophers. Yet many of their posters are predicting a blowout for Iowa: http://hawkeyenation.com/forum/showthread.php?72411-Iowa-Rescues-Floyd-From-Evil-Gopher-Kidnappers-Prediction-Thread

Shocking how fans tend to favor their own team.

Logical take, they are making the most of a pretty favorable schedule, and at this point in the year being undefeated is an accomplishment regardless. That said, trying to look at this game without the maroon and gold glasses, I still see this as a legit game the Gophers can win.

That said, I'd rather have Iowa go to Indy than Wisconsin. Ahhhhh, god damnit that was hard to say. I just hate them both so much.

I'm cheering for Northwestern! They still have a (slight) chance to go to Indy!

Most of my family is from Minnesota though we got a 100 year farm in Rochester... so I don't hate Minnesota, but it kinda hits the feels that I'm hated so much.
