Hawkeye fans seem to think we're taking them lightly

Gopher fans are taking the Hawkeyes lightly when most have chocked this up as a loss because the game is on the road, and we are discussing needing to beat Illinois and Wisconsin just to make a bowl game. I don't know how they could think were taking them lightly when they are undefeated, the game is in Iowa City, and we're reeling from losing our head coach and a lot of injury's. This stretch of the schedule, was always considered the gauntlet, the hardest part of the schedule between playing Michigan at home, and Ohio State and Iowa on the road, our interim head coach even called this the "elephant" part of the schedule. They don't need any disrespect from us, we know they are a good team and are going to be tough to beat in there place.
If anything they are looking to make up or manifest some kind of disrespect, that is about it. There is a ton of uncertainty in Gopher nation or Dinky town right now. Would help if we had an athletic director and could stop getting so many guy's injured on the field. I would say were distracted but not taking the game for granted. Do we want to win the pig sure do, but the odds are going to be stacked against us this weekend. Hopefully the Gophers players are motivated about keeping the Pig and tuning out everything else.

The majority of Hawkeye fans thought they were going to come up here and push the Gophers around last year. How'd that turn out?

Just about every comment from the Hawkeyes fans is were going to push the Gophers around like a rag doll, were going to truck the Gophers, were going to destroy the Gophers, there rush defense sucks and this and that, and were the fan base that is disrespecting and not bowing down and kissing the A$$ of the other side. No wonder we hate Iowa, we may be down but even when were good were not touting ourselves as playoff contenders like these tools. All of those guys already believe the Gophers minus well not show up because they are just going to stomp us anyways. I guess we should just mail Floyd UPS to Iowa City and not show up for the game.

They have a good team doesn't make there fans any less the knobs and doofs they always are. They brought us goal post through revolving doors, Porty potty dumped over and trashed tailgate lots, and Feldman sex gate at the Dome, and Panther-dingleberry. They are like rude hotel guest that trash the hotel room and refuse to leave even after checkout and come back and use the toilet and shower after the maid cleaned the room, nothing redeeming about this read. They expect to whip us, we get that, doesn't mean the Gophers have zero chance just because of fan bravado.

"Minnesota has the 51st ranked rushing defense. That's about all you need to know about their chances.
Better rush defenses that we have played:
Pitt - gained 105
Connie - gained 144
Illannoy - gained 278
NW - gained 294. (Minny gave up 184 to NW)
It's gonna be ugly!
What happened last year will be the exact reverse. I predict this will be Minny's worse loss of the year.

45-17 Iowa
Iowa will easily cover the Vegas number"

conference home revenge game
4 headed monster behind CJB
One of the top 10 defenses in the country

WE DON'T GET MAD ... WE GET EVEN

My in-laws from from Iowa -- most hate Iowa, as they went to Iowa State. However, the few Iowa fans that there are all honestly think THEY get the credit for turning this program around. It was them who got Kirk to wake up and care again.....they are the most delusional fans around. I say delusional as they honestly think they are a TOP 10 national program.....

They should win, but the arrogance of their fans is so comical. Remember, they had to schedule a WRESTLING match the same day to drum up interest for this day. It wasn't until a week or so ago they sold out the game. There have to be ER's full of Hawk fans whose ankles have been sprained hopping back on this wagon. I hope they extend Kirk for 10 more years.......

I respect him, can't stand their fans.

I'm fine if fans take em lightly as long as long as the players and coaches don't .. And as a fan base we probably are

Are we taking them lightly? Of course. Minnesota fans know that Iowa fans are a bunch of inbred idiots out walking around. There is not much with which to compete.

Oh, as for the actual football game, played on the field, by players, I have no idea.

I'm delusional enough myself to think this is a winnable game. They get credit for the Northwestern and Wisconsin wins. Even though Wisconsin had no running game when they played. With the way this season has gone- we haven't taken anyone 'lightly'. At the same time- worst undefeated team in the country. They very likely will make it to the Big Ten Championship game where I expect Ohio State takes a dump on them like they did Bucky last year. If 'good Mitch' shows up and the defense as well...it could get very interesting for Herky. Would love to see to see the DeKalb hats heading for the exits by halftime like last year.

I see they are in the top 10 of the AP, Coaches, and CFP rankings as of today. So it appears they are currently a TOP 10 national program...

Must have seen my predict the score post (61-14 Gophers). I'll gladly take responsibility for any meltdowns at dodo bird central. :cool02:

I like how they are ripping on the prediction thread. Virtually every team message board will be the same way. People will always favor their own team.

My comment was more related to year in and year out....PROGRAM...not year. They think they are Ohio State, Alabama, etc....that was what I meant.
Having a very nice year as I predicted to my Iowa Family when they said they wouldn't even beat Illinois State this year. They all thought 3-9 this year.....again DELUSIONAL

This is my exact experience with a few Iowa friends as well. This is the reason why I hate Iowa more than Wisconsin.

They're also downplaying things like it isn't a big rivalry to them. I can tell you from first hand experience that many Iowa fans hate us just as much as we hate them.

It's a rivalry, might as well have some fun with it for crying out loud.

I always like to remind Iowans of their geography. You see, we take a sh!t and flush it down the river and they drink it! morons.

As I stated in an earlier thread, I am guilty of being a delusional fan. Seasons like this don't happen very often and when they do come together like this, you have to dream big and think "what if?" Delusions start to creep in when your team has a 9-0 record. I don't think the Hawkeyes are the best team in the country, but anything can happen.

This season has just been so unexpected; again, anything can happen. I don't know if this is a great team that can head to the B1G Championship game undefeated - but at this point in the season, it's a possibility. It may get be that it's a late folding team that drops this game to the Gophers and another one on Black Friday to the Huskers and we have to watch as the Badgers go to Indy.

Iowa has looked really good in stretches and very beatable in others. I think it's going to be a great game. But, then again, I thought that last season and the Gophers steamrolled the Hawks.

I'd love to trade records with you this year. I can only imagine how excited your fans must be. Good for you guys. I hope we spoil your fun, but either way, congrats on a great season so far.

I think Iowa can and probably should beat us. That said, I don't think Iowa is a dominant team, and at some point they are due for a let down loss. I don't know if that will be this week, but I don't think they are the kind of team that can run the table. Do even Iowa fans think this team is as good as their 2002 team? Or even 2009? Beathard is a good QB, but do they have great playmaker WRs or a Shonn Green type RB? I think they are probably a very solid team in all phases that has benefited from a poor schedule, but they aren't a great team and they'll get beat by someone they shouldn't. That's just how CFB works.

Who cares if we are taking them lightly. I guarantee the team and coaches aren't and that's what matters. Of course as a fan after watching our last two games I think we have a pretty good chance to beat Iowa. After our last two games we should be able to think we can beat anyone.

IMO both Michigan and Ohio State are easily better teams than Iowa and if the Gophers bring the same kind of effort and execution this Saturday as they have the last 2 weeks I think the Gophers win by 10+ points.

I am surprised they know how to user computers!

In all reality we are probably better than our record would indicate, and Iowa probably not as good as theirs would indicate. I doubt they'd be 9-0 if they played our schedule and I doubt we'd be at 4 wins if we had their schedule.
Should they be favored to win? Definitely, but it's not as lopsided as the records would indicate.

Even though I think the Gophers can and will win, I wouldn't take Iowa at home lightly ever. It's a tough place to win and wins have been a struggle this year.

Congrats to their fans on a good season so far and I hope Floyd remains a Minnesotan.

The good thing is what fans say on a message board has zero influence on the game.

They are nearly two touchdown favorites and should be. If we were them, we would be saying the same crap. The problem is that we fans have a completely different mind set than the team. My OSU fan guy says that this game will be about turn overs and special teams. Thinks that being a rival game, all the rest of the crap is negated. All the pressure and expectations are ramped for them.

To answer your questions.

As good as the 2002 team? Certainly not on offense. Defense? Possibly. Special teams? No. 2002 team was great on special teams. 2009? I would say the 2015 squad is for sure better on offense. Defense not as good as 2009, but not far behind.

The strength of this year's Iowa team is they are overall above average to good in all areas. The defense (even without Drew Ott) has good players at every level. The running back corps is good. Not a Shonn Greene in the bunch, but 4 guys who have all had their moments this year. The WR group is not elite, but good. The TE group is good. The OL is very good, not quite elite. Anything is possible, but I don't see Iowa having a letdown loss the last 3 games. They could lose just by being outplayed (most likely by Nebraska) or a key injury (Beathard) but it won't be because the emotional juice isn't there.

Should be a good game Saturday night. Neither team will trick the other, they will line up and play.

I'm thinking we trick the sh!t out of your defense on a few plays. Just trash talking though. I'm looking forward to a good game. Should be a battle

Great thing that fans don't play the game. I highly doubt out players, or their's, will "take the game lightly". I always dislike those kind of comments.
