ESPN Radio just announcing that 5 OSU players could be suspended for the first five games of next season for accepting improper benefits, including Terrell Pryor. Yikes.

None suspended for the bowl game against Arkansas.

EDIT: WR Posey and RB Herron were also included. Ouch.

Why aren't they suspended for the bowl game?

Terrell Pryor and 4 others suspended

I didn't catch the other four names - they read them too fast

First five games next year - have to repay $1000-$2500

Can play in Sugar Bowl

This is a joke.

Watch Pryor tear it up against Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl and then just leave for the NFL and never have to serve any suspension.

and somewhere Cam Newton is laughing his arse off.....

I agree this is a joke. The NCAA is slowly starting to lose any credibility when it comes to rules violations and the punishment associated with those violations.

The NCAA lost all credibility years ago with their selective punishments and "blind eye".

Ohio State should lose five schollies for four years also, otherwise it is a joke.

The thing about OSU is you could probably suspend there 1st and 2nd stringers and there still going to be better than most teams in the country. When you look at there roster, the kids that don't see the field would be super recruits to the Gophs at this point. Not a big deal at all. Just a little spanking and timeout.

I bet the investigation went somthing like this:

NCAA - "Well we found over 100 violations of kids taking money, cars, clothes, houses, and everything else".

OSU - "I'm sorry"

NCAA - "We forgive you, we'll just get you for some of your kids giving autographs for free tatoos, so everybody knows at least we're doing somthing".

OSU - "I don't know if people will believe this story?"

NCAA - "We've been doing this forever and people just bought the Cam Newton story"

OSU - "Your right, the cam newton story was one of the dumbest things I've heard, let's do".

OSU to the kids getting suspended - "Hey guys your already going to get nice contracts going to the NFL so we were wondering if you would take a five game suspension? Just look at it as a nice mini vacation."

Anybody watching the press conference?

Somehow I don't think 99% of college students are going to feel sorry for these guys because they don't have money to put gas in their car or take their girl out on a date.

OSU Players - WTF coach. The ink on my bank isn't completed yet. This is a bunch of BS. How could you allow this to happen to us?

OSU - We're sorry guys, anybody with unfinished ink will still be allowed to get there tatoo's done, but you have to do it on campus in the training room so nobody sees you going into the tatoo parlor. On top of that can you go back to the dealerships and down grade your cars from Benz, Bmw, escalades, and navigators to regular vehicles until this whole thing dies down?

OSU players - This is really f'ed up coach. You want me to drive around town now with a regular vehicle? I'm thinking about transdering to USC, Florida, Miami, Oklahoma, ect... none of the guys there have to do this.

OSU - wait wait wait, alright if you do this for me, you don't have to go to class and we'll move each of you into condos downtown.

OSU players - deal.

OSU - perfect now I need to go do a press conference, make sure your watching, it should be pretty hilarious. I'm going to lie to the whole world and make up some of the stupidest *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# you've ever heard.

NCAA - OSU - OSU players - ahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaahhahahahaahah

While I don't doubt that this is the tip of the iceberg of what has actually been going on, I don't really see why selling their championship rings, etc. is a big deal. They earned it. It was given to them. Why is it the NCAA's business what they do with it?

All relative

This is no joke. He actually said that..:)

I don't know about "too severe" but if you don't think this is severe, you're mistaken. 5 games is half the season, for a team that thinks of itself in the national championship discussion most years.

Living here in Columbus and hearing all these fans talk about their great tOSU Bucks this announcement is a great early Christmas present and just the tip of the iceberg which started with the Maurice Clarett cheating incident. While people know that Jim Tressel came from Youngstown State, but few know that people say that Youngstown is the hotbed of mob activities in Ohio. There's talk here that there's more to this story.

I bet the President of Boise State is saying to himself, "Ain't karma a bitch OSU?"!!

Moral of the story: if you're going to do anything against the rules, make sure it's for a ton of money (say $180K). You don't get in trouble for large amounts.

Of course he downplays this. He still has solid ties to tOSU when not working for ESPN. He lives in a well-to-do suburb, has his own radio show and does commercials on TV.

It is concieveable that they could come out of this suspension 3-2. They have @Miami in the non-conf and start the B10 sched with MSU. Then travel to Nebraska.

OSU's first 4 games will be quite easy.. Akron, Toledo, @ a rebuilding Miami.. than MSU
